Melissa looked at Vivian expressionlessly and pursed her lips. Melissa mocked, "Since Miss Nova assigned you all the important work, you should be competent. I've nothing to teach you."
Vivian was stunned. She could vaguely sense the other party's dissatisfaction with her.
Just then, Alice brought over two documents. When Melissa saw the former, she quickly smiled and answered Vivian's question as if nothing had happened.
After Alice left, Melissa muttered sarcastically, "Teaching you will only land me a termination letter."
At 11 a.m., Alice knocked on Grace's office door and reported, "Miss Nova, Mr. Francis is here to deliver lunch to you again."
Grace said without looking up, "Didn't I tell you before? You're not allowed to send in the food he brought over."
Alice argued, "But if I don't send it in, Mr. Brian will rush in on his own. Wouldn't you be even angrier then?"
Grace looked up and said, "Give it to Vivian."
Alice braced herself and carried the lunch box out. She looked at Brian, who was waiting outside Grace's office, and asked, "Mr. Francis, do you want to take this back?"
Brian looked at the bag in her hand and lowered his gaze. There was a hint of disappointment in his cold voice as he instructed, "Throw it away if that's what she wants."
Alice hesitated momentarily and said, "Well, Miss Nova told me to give the food to the new secretary. Are you sure you don't want to take this back?"
Brian frowned and muttered, "I can accept her throwing the food away, but giving my homemade lunch box to someone else?"
He wondered who would have the guts to eat his home-cooked meal.
Vivian, who had just come out of the washroom, overheard their conversation. When she saw Brian's sullen expression, she quickly waved her hand and said, "No. I am not deserving of this lunch box."
Brian glanced at Vivian. Then, he snatched the lunch box from Alice and rushed into Grace's office.
Outside the office, Alice and Vivian could hear Brian and Grace fighting and stuff being thrown into the trash can.
After that, there was a long silence. Then, Brian walked out of the office gloomily and left swiftly.
Vivian answered honestly, "Uh... a little."
"He didn't cook the food. What's there to be sad about?"
"Huh? But Mr. Francis said that he made it himself."
Grace sneered. "How is that possible? He doesn't know how to cook at all."
After a while, she suddenly thought of the wounds on Brian's hands and the blood clot on his fingers that day.
Grace wondered if Brian had actually cooked the food himself.
Grace frowned slightly and reevaluated the situation with the premise that Brian had prepared the food himself.
Vivian said, "Grace, I feel that Brian truly loves you. After you went missing, Carson relapsed. It was Brian who saved him. Oh right! Brian also paid for Carson's first surgery."
