Austin nestled obediently in Jasmine's arms and sweetly called out, "Grandma."
After Brian finished his meal, the family stayed in the ward for a while. Jasmine said, "Since Austin is back, I haven't bought anything for her yet. I'll take her out to buy some clothes later. Grace, can you stay here to take care of Brian?"
Grace replied, "Mom, I've already bought a lot of clothes for her. You don't need to buy more."
"In that case, I'll take her out to play for a while."
Grace said, "I'll go with you. This is a VIP ward with dedicated nurses. Brian will be fine alone here."
Brian was speechless upon hearing this.
Jasmine looked back at Brian with her mouth twitching slightly. "Then Brian, we'll leave first. Stay here alone."
Jasmine's expression seemed to say he deserved it.
Brian watched helplessly as his daughter, whom he had just reunited with for less than half an hour, left.
Jasmine took the child to Legoland.
"Austin, your father loved to play with Lego when he was young. He was so clever that he could build something this big in half a day when he was only four."
Austin was also interested in Lego and her eyes sparkled as she watched other children playing with Lego.
Soon, she began building her own Lego set based on the blueprint.
Jasmine and Grace sat on chairs outside while watching Austin. Soon, Jasmine noticed that Austin wasn't interacting much with other children.
"His father and I had a marital alliance and we didn't have much feelings for each other. His father was reckless and irresponsible, but he had to marry me for the sake of the family's interests. After we married, he never cared about me.
"Later, he had an affair and had a son, becoming even more indifferent towards me and showing no love to Brian."
Although Jasmine's tone was calm when she spoke about these things, Grace could sense the tremor in her voice.
Grace could tell that although Jasmine was part of a marital alliance, she still had some feelings for Brian's father. Otherwise, she wouldn't have cared about him and only needed to live a good life for herself and Brian.
"He never remembers Brian's birthday. Brian was only a toddler then, how could he not crave fatherly love? So, Brian always tried to please him, working hard in his studies just to hear a word of praise.
"I remember once his father said that if Brian won first place in the national kindergarten design competition, he would celebrate his birthday with him. Brian achieved it, but his father broke his promise because the woman was about to give birth."
