Brian's face showed a hint of being hurt.
"You don't care about me at all," he said, then quickly added, "But since you called Camren tonight to indirectly ask about me, I forgive you."
Grace was speechless and she thought, 'As expected, Camren couldn't be trusted.'
Brian said, "Honey, I'm so tired."
His voice carried a deep weariness at this moment. "Let's sleep, alright?"
His tall figure enveloped her in his arms as they both fell onto the bed.
Grace had no room to resist as he had her pinned down with his hands and legs. "Goodnight, Grace."
He kissed her lightly on the lips before closing his eyes.
Grace looked down at Brian, noticing stubble on his chin, a visible bruise under his eyes, and his face appeared quite pale.
She knew that he was indeed exhausted.
She couldn't bear to push him away any longer and hence, she reached out, turned off the bedside lamp, and slowly drifted into sleep.
The night passed peacefully, and the next day was a rest day. Grace turned off the alarm clock, and they both slept until past nine in the morning.
They were awakened by a knock on the door.
Grace opened her eyes sleepily and saw a small figure standing by her bed.
"Mommy," Austin greeted in a soft voice.
Grace rubbed her eyes and responded. "Austin, you're up."
Austin's eyes widened as she looked at Brian, whose arms and legs were wrapped around Grace. She quickly covered her eyes with her hands, turned, and ran out.
Austin dropped her hands, stuck out her tongue, and said, "Shy."
Jasmine was stunned for a moment before she understood what Austin meant.
She hurried upstairs and leaned against Grace's door to listen to the sounds inside.
As Grace opened the door, she saw Jasmine at the doorway.
Jasmine was shocked but she tilted her body to quickly glance inside. Then, she smiled and said, "Up already? Come down for breakfast. Brian, get up quickly, and don't stay in bed!"
Jasmine deliberately raised her voice for the last sentence, making Grace feel so embarrassed.
During breakfast, Jasmine wore a suggestive smile. When pouring milk for Grace, she extended her neck to look into Grace's collar.
Grace instantly understood what she was trying to see and cleared her throat. "Mom, after breakfast, let's take Austin out for a hike. The weather is quite nice today."
