Blake's POV
My body acted on its own as it turned to the direction of where the presence came from. The scent was so familiar that it made my chest tightened in anticipation.
With anticipation Chloe’s image played in my mind a dozen times. It was never until this moment that I realized how much I wanted to see her face.
Wanting to touch her, feel her, beg on my knees and ask for her forgiveness… The years that passed were not able to bury all these desires of mine away.
Yet, a wave of cold air doused my fantasies the moment I saw who the person was.
“What brings you here?”
Wary voice of a young woman who was not even of age, dressed in simple clothes that exudes charity and selflessness… and a pair of pale brown eyes that were filled with coldness and suspicion…
There was no way that the person in front of me was Chloe.
“Identify yourself!” She asked once more.
A wave of disappointment came and woke me up in my senses.
‘Ah… how could I even think that it was easy to see her after all that happened?’ I told myself in self reproach.
“D-doctor… Please help my mother… I beg you!” Beside me the boy was already on his knees as he looked at the young woman in front of us and begged.
The teenage girl in front of me did not react and only looked at us with doubt and suspicion. There was silence between us coupled with the desolate forest.
Fortunately, this silence for me is something I need to collect myself at the moment. In the end, no matter my disappointment, the one in front of me right now is someone who carried the scent of Chloe.
I would not believe that she would not have anything to do with her, not even a slight connection!
Determined, I calmed myself and carefully hid my aura to no longer raise any suspicion.
Then I patted the boy’s head and bowed slightly in a manner of asking a favor to the young woman in front of us.
Larry’s home was a dilapidated house that seemed to be sitting in the forest for several years already.
As we entered I saw that the interior was quite unused and dusty. If not for a sickly woman lying down trembling in pain in the wooden bed inside and a few pieces of utensils, I would have thought that this cabin had been uninhabited for a few years.
It seems like the mother and son was thrown out here not too long ago. Maybe the towns people really thought that they would spread the disease so they decisively put the two in here.
“L-larry is that you?” the mother heard our footsteps and weakly called out.
“Mother… I’’ve brought the doctor…” Larry rushed to his mother’s side and immediately held her hand.
She was already too weak to say any word but her eyes flashed a sense of relief.
“Let me take a look at her condition…” The young doctor stepped forward and immediately diagnosed the patient.
I on the other hand diminished my presence and watched every thing unfold.
