Chapter 155 Are You Here to Get Me Back?
"Why did you lie to me?" Norah puckered her mouth and asked angrily.
Seeing this, Ivan left with great perception.
"Have a seat first," Shawn said.
Compared to Norah's anger, he appeared unusually calm as if everything was not worth mentioning.
But the calmer he was, the angrier Norah became.
"I won't sit."
Norah shook her head and refused, continuing to ask, "I just want to know why you lied to me."
After she finished asking, Shawn lifted his head. His pitch-black eyes gazed intensely at her.
The next moment, he told her the answer, "Scared."
He spoke one word.
Just one word.
But it made Norah suddenly freeze.
"Why are you scared? Scared of what?" Norah asked incredulously.
Shawn suddenly stood up, reached out, and grabbed Norah's hand, leading her to a relatively private place in the hotel.
Then, gasping for breath, he held onto her thin shoulders and said with serious eyes, "Because I was afraid that if you knew the truth, you would distance yourself from me."
Norah pushed him away. "Then you shouldn't have lied to me. You're only making me more distant from you."
"Do you know how scared I was when I thought I had drunk too much and pulled a stranger to sleep with me?"
"I was even thinking... Fortunately..."
At this point, Norah realized something and abruptly stopped talking.
"Fortunately what?" Shawn asked.
"Forget it. It's nothing."
After speaking, Nancy lowered her eyes.
She even felt fortunate that the person she pulled wasn't someone else, but him.
Did he know how scared and worried she was at that time?
"I have a question for you," Norah said, thinking of Vivian's words.
"Go ahead."
"Well... " Norah was a little embarrassed to ask, blushing.
But to figure out the truth, she gathered her courage to speak, "Vivian said you came to the South Sea specifically to find me. Is that true?"
Undeniably, when she asked this question, she still had a glimmer of hope in her heart.
During the few seconds she waited for his answer, her heart suddenly jumped faster, pounding.
She was anxious and nervous.
What would his answer be?
Yes?
Or no?
After asking, Norah almost held her breath and waited quietly for his answer.
Thinking that he had almost messed things up and scared her, Shawn narrowed his eyes and answered, "No, I just happened to have some business to attend to in this place. Ivan said he wanted to surprise Vivian with a visit, so we came together."
"I met you by coincidence."
When Norah heard his answer, her eyes, which had just lit up a bit, suddenly dimmed.
Her heart felt bitter and sour.
She knew she shouldn't have hoped because the bigger the hope, the greater the disappointment.
But what could she do?
She still felt a tightness in her chest. It was so uncomfortable.
Forcing herself to compose her emotions, she lifted her head and tried to show a smile. "Thank you for your honest answer."
"It's reasonable for friends to travel together. Okay, I see."
After that, she quickly turned around.
Then she opened the door and ran away in a hurry.
She was afraid.
"When did he offend you?"
"I actually defended him, thinking he came all the way here to get Norah back, but guess what? He didn't. He was just on a business trip and happened to come here, and coincidentally ran into Norah."
"What a scumbag! It really makes me angry."
The more Vivian thought about it, the angrier she became.
Ivan was stunned and asked with confusion, "Coincidentally? Who told you that?"
"He told Norah himself!"
Ivan shook his head and then said, "That's impossible. He came here specifically to get Norah back."
"Forget it. I can't trust anything you guys say anymore."
"I swear." Ivan solemnly said, "Shawn did come here to pursue Norah. He came on purpose. It was not just a coincidence."
"Oh well." Vivian shook her head. "It's meaningless to argue about it now. Norah has already gone back."
"Back? When did that happen?"
"Just now."
Ivan immediately called Shawn. "I have bad news for you. Your ex-wife has already flown back."
"What did you say?" Shawn was completely caught off guard, and he was stunned.
He immediately called Norah, but her phone was already turned off.
The plane soared into the sky, and Norah closed her eyes, sinking into her seat.
The two-hour journey was over quickly. She hadn't rested well on the way back, so she just had a bowl of instant noodles and went to bed after she arrived home.
She didn't wake up until the doorbell started ringing frantically.
She looked at the time. It was already ten o'clock at night. Had she slept for almost four hours?
The doorbell kept ringing, and it was very noisy.
It couldn't be Vivian. Who else could it be?
Norah opened the door tiredly.
However, when she saw the person outside the door, she was instantly stunned. She was petrified.
