Chapter 201 Give Me One Million Dollars or I'll Reveal Your Identity
"It's impossible."
Norah clenched her fists and glared at Kelvin with anger in her eyes. She was so mad that her eyes were blazing with the flames of anger. "Kelvin, don't you dare slander my mom!"
"Slander?"
Kelvin sneered. "I wouldn't bother slandering a woman who has already lost her reputation. Think about your name. You're Norah Chase, and your mom is Stella Chase. You took her surname, not mine."
"If you were my daughter, do you think I would let you be surnamed Chase?"
His words immediately became the sharp sword that shattered the last line of defense in Norah's heart.
Yes, she knew Kelvin too well. If she really was his child, he would definitely make her take the surname "Dulin," not "Chase."
Norah remembered that when she was little, she had asked her mom, "Mom, why do all the kids in our class have the same surname as their dads', but I have the same surname as yours?"
Her mom had lovingly held her and said, "Because I love my surname, and your Dad is very open-minded and doesn't care about these formalities, so we let you take my surname. Do you not like it, Norah?"
"Yes, I like it a lot."
At that time, she was young and still naive.
So when her mom explained it to her, she had believed it.
Later, when she got to high school and university, she knew that some people would deliberately take their mother's surnames, so she didn't think much of it.
But it turned out that things were not as simple as she thought.
"Mom..." Norah raised her head, feeling extremely sad.
She had always longed for a father's love, for a competent father, but it seemed like fate was playing a joke on her.
If Kelvin wasn't her father, who was her father?
"Then who is my real father?" Norah looked up at Kelvin.
"How would I know?"
"Why wouldn't you know? I'm begging you. For the sake of the 20-plus years we've spent together, tell me who my father is."
Kelvin impatiently waved his hand. "Begging me won't do you any good. I really don't know. Your mother was alone when she met me, with no family information. Now I even suspect that her name is fake."
"Then... weren't you curious at all in the past years? Has my mom never given you any information?"
Norah asked eagerly, wanting to know the truth.
"I don't know. We made an agreement before we got married. Anything related to your father was not allowed to be mentioned. She gave me money, and I played the role of your cheap dad, making your identity legitimate."
Kelvin's words extinguished the last bit of hope and light in Norah's heart.
She was so upset that she staggered. If there wasn't something holding her up, she would have fallen to the ground.
But Kelvin was becoming increasingly annoyed and impatient. "I didn't come to see you today to make you look for your real father. Norah, I'll say it again. If you can't give me one million dollars tomorrow, I'm not sure what I'll do."
"What do you want to do?" Norah looked at him, feeling a sense of dread in her heart.
"I've played the role of your father for over twenty years, and it's been too stifling. If you can't give me the money, don't blame me for ruining your mother's reputation together with my life. I'll make sure her former neighbors, colleagues, and friends know what a promiscuous woman she is."
"Norah, you're so filial, but do you really want your mother to be scolded and criticized even after she died? Do you not want her to rest in peace?"
"And what about you? If everyone in the hospital knows you're an illegitimate child with no known father, how do you think they'll see you? Huh?"
Kelvin sneered.
He had nothing left to hide now.
He was like a ferocious wolf, opening his large and fierce-looking mouth. He was extremely terrifying and disgusting.
What made Norah feel powerless was that she had no way out.
