Old Mr. Jarvis gave Old Mr. Quintin a knowing look, "Ease up in front of Evelyn, will ya? No need to startle the kid with your ruckus."

Old Mr. Quintin shot a glance back at Old Mr. Jarvis but got the hint. Turning to Evelyn, he said, "It's nothing for you to worry about, pumpkin. It's getting late. You head off to bed. Me and Jarvis will chat for a bit longer."

Evelyn could tell they had things to discuss and didn't insist on staying. She simply said, "Alright, but you two try not to stay up arguing, okay?"

"Don't you worry, we won't," Old Mr. Quintin's voice was gentle. "Off you go, up to bed."

"Okay," Evelyn nodded obediently. "Goodnight, Grandpa. Goodnight, Mr. Jarvis."

"Night, kiddo," Old Mr. Jarvis called out with a chuckle.

Once Evelyn had left, Old Mr. Jarvis' smile faded. "Gab's not into Evelyn, and even if he was, there's always Miss West to consider. What's the rush?"

Old Mr. Quintin stubbornly retorted, "I'm not fretting for Nana; I'm worried about Gab. You really comfortable with him hanging around that girl every day?"

Old Mr. Jarvis frowned. "Hold your horses, man. You don't even have the full picture and you're already painting her in a bad light. Public relations is a respectable profession, not whatever you're imagining."

Old Mr. Quintin scoffed, "And you're defending her? You really want that Sylvia girl as your granddaughter-in-law?"

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, his words laced with sarcasm. "Seems like she's got a real connection with your family."

Disgusted, Old Mr. Jarvis turned away. "I've got nothing to say to you."

"Well, I've got nothing to say to you either. Tomorrow I'm calling Estelle over. I need to get to the bottom of this," Old Mr. Quintin declared, fuming.

"Do whatever you want. I'm off to bed," Old Mr. Jarvis said, rising and heading to his bedroom with an air of indifference.

Old Mr. Quintin was left stewing, itching to call Gabriel right then to figure out who exactly this Sylvia was.
