Nestled beneath the winding mountain path was a quaint little river, where Estelle and Jonathan were busy catching fish. Jonathan, armed with a sturdy branch, had rolled up the sleeves of his button-down shirt, looking every bit the part of an adventurer.
Estelle, already boasting a catch of four or five, waved over her shoulder, “Fancy some grilled fish?”
Sylvia let go of Gabriel’s hand and hurried over, surprised, “There are fish in the river?”
“Plenty, and they’re huge!” Estelle showed off the fish she had corralled into a small pool.
Gabriel chuckled, “We don’t have any gear, how do you plan to grill them?”
“You’ve got a lighter, right? That and some kindling is all we need!” Estelle’s face, splattered with river water, glistened like freshly fallen snow, her eyes sparkling.
Jonathan tossed aside his branch, scanning the area before instructing Estelle, “Stay here, I’ll gather some wood!”
He then strode towards the hillside.
“I’ll come with you!” Gabriel followed, his expression serene, “You really spoil her!”
The idea of grilling fish had swiftly turned into a quest for firewood, a sight sure to astonish anyone from the Lamont Group who knew their CEO as a figure of authority rather than a man scavenging for kindling in the mountains.
Jonathan smiled softly, “Her happiness is my happiness. In a way, I’m indulging myself too.”
Gabriel smirked, uncommitted.
Navigating the rocky terrain with ease, Jonathan spoke in a steady tone, “You’re the same with her, aren’t you?”
Gabriel paused, glancing towards the riverbank where Sylvia was watching Estelle fish, a turbulent mix of emotions hidden in his gaze, but he remained silent.

While Jonathan collected firewood, Estelle was by the riverbank, skillfully preparing the fish with a sharp rock—scaling, gutting, and cleaning with practiced ease.
