Evelyn seemed to catch Jason's words and hurriedly said, “I really love being a designer, I know I’m not professional. I could start at the bottom, even as a coffee runner, just please let me try.”
Jason replied, “That’s not happening. After all, you’re Grandpa Quintin's granddaughter. If people found out you were running errands in the studio, it would be a blow to Grandpa’s reputation.”
Evelyn turned to Old Mr. Quintin, “Grandpa, I won’t reveal who I am. I won’t let you down. Please, let me go. I really want to learn, and even if I can’t start as a designer, I’m willing to work my way up.”
Jason was firm, “The answer is no. If you don’t want to put Grandpa in a difficult position, be sensible and drop this!”
Evelyn, intimidated by Jason’s stern tone, glanced at Old Mr. Quintin and said with a hint of sadness, “I’m sorry, Grandpa. It’s my fault.”
Old Mr. Quintin slowly said, “Listen to Jason, trust his judgment!”
“I understand!” Evelyn quickly nodded, not daring to argue anymore. “I won’t make things difficult for Grandpa and Jason!”
Old Mr. Quintin smiled, “Now go on, check if Sophia has come downstairs. Tell her it’s time for dinner.”
“Okay, I’ll go call Sophia!” Evelyn left without showing any signs of unhappiness.
After she left, Old Mr. Quintin said, “Evelyn is still a child. You’re being too hard on her.”
Jason replied, “She’s an adult and understands the consequences of her words. Yet, she insists on speaking out.”
Old Mr. Quintin thought Jason was biased due to his affection for Sophia.
Jason added, “Grandpa, do you think I have it too easy?”
Old Mr. Quintin chuckled, “I have my reasons. Evelyn will stay with us and needs to adapt to our way of life. You can’t always keep her and Sophia at odds. If Evelyn works in the studio and spends more time with Sophia, maybe their issues will be resolved.”
Jason understood Old Mr. Quintin’s sentiment, wanting peace among his loved ones.
“Grandpa, you know why I started the studio. I don’t want Sophia to feel uncomfortable working there. I can't prioritize Evelyn’s feelings. I just want Sophia to be happy every day, so I’m sorry.”
