Chapter 317
Charlie hit her on the head with a bag of chips, “Don’t worry about me, we’re not the same kind of people. You and Nora are different too. What you want is sincerity, what I want is fun. If you want to see what bad guys look like, just watch me more.”
Emily was amused by him, she knew all along that they were not the same kind of people.
As for her love life, she didn’t have the mental energy to think about it right now.
If she ever gains the ability to love in the future, she would definitely find someone who loves her.
Back home, Emily changed her clothes and went into the kitchen to cook, while Charlie went into the study after answering a phone call.
She made potato pancakes and a few dishes that Charlie liked, as well as a big pot of broth.
Charlie took a sip of the soup and nodded with satisfaction, “Delicious, just the taste I like.”
Emily was hungry too, and she hadn’t had a proper meal in a long time and wolfed down her food.
Charlie told her, “Quit your delivery job!”
Emily replied, “No need, I don’t have anything to do at night anyway. Estelle works at night, so I’d be bored at home alone.”
Charlie looked at her for a moment, didn’t say anything, and seemed to focus on eating really hungry. After dinner, Emily cleared the table, and Charlie also helped wash the dishes in the kitchen.
Emily quickly pushed him out, “You don’t need to wash, I can do it myself!”
Charlie joked, “I ate the food you cooked and you still have to serve me? Isn’t that too much?”
Emily giggled coyly, “Just as a thank-you for helping me out today.”
Charlie stood at the glass door of the kitchen and watched Emily’s back as she tied her apron. Her waist was very slim, with a long, thin strap hanging at the back. As she moved swiftly, the thin strap swayed gently, like a willow tree in spring, swaying tenderly.
Charlie stood there watching for a while before leaving.
After finishing up with the dishes, Emily stepped out to find Charlie getting ready to leave, slipping on his coat. He spoke while heading towards the door, “Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight, and don’t go out!”
Nodding in understanding, Emily suddenly recalled something and hurriedly caught up a few steps, her voice filled with gratitude, “Charlie, when I was sick last time, you took me to the doctor. How much did it cost? I want to reimburse you.”
Charlie paused, his hand on the doorknob, as a fleeting image of a barely-clothed girl in the bathroom crossed his mind, distracting his thoughts. He turned around and offered a faint smile, saying, “That was my personal doctor, so there’s no need for you to repay me. And don’t keep your distance from me like that.”
Emily nodded, a bit perplexed by his response, and simply replied, “Oh!”
