The second day after returning home, Alivia went directly to the hospital. Since Bert's surgery funds had arrived, Romy's surgery was promptly scheduled. The recovery after the surgery was going well, and Romy was now undergoing daily rehabilitation.
During the time Alivia was away in another country, Romy thought Alivia was on a business trip. She missed her daughter and was concerned about Alivia, but she didn't want to interfere with Alivia's work. Now that she saw Alivia back, she couldn't help but become emotional and teary-eyed.
"Alivia, when did you come back?" Romy sat up on the bed all of a sudden, holding Alivia's hand tightly.
Alivia was moved, looking at her mom's relatively good complexion, she felt relieved, "Mom, I came back yesterday. I visited home first and had a chat with Henry before coming here. How is everything going with you?"
"I'm doing fine, really," Romy nodded eagerly, "I feel much better now, and the recovery is going well. Doctor Moll told me yesterday that if there are no unexpected issues in next week's check-up, I can be discharged."
"Really?" Alivia was overjoyed, "I haven't seen Doctor Moll yet. I'll go and ask him later."
"Truly," Romy assured Alivia, noticing the tiredness on her face, and as a concerned parent, she said, "You've been taking care of me and your brother all these years. Now that I'm getting better and won't need to stay in the hospital anymore, we can save some money. I can also go back to work and help with the expenses. The burden on your shoulders will be lighter."
"Mom, what are you saying?" Alivia scolded her playfully, giving her a slight glare, "You're my mom, and taking care of you is my duty. There's no need to think about it that way. You just focus on getting better quickly, and I'll be at ease with Henry!"
Their conversation caught the attention of Cindy, the lady in the neighboring bed, who looked over with envy, "Romy, you're really blessed to have such a considerate daughter. She's even more capable than a son!"
Despite being younger, Alivia had been taking care of her mom tirelessly due to her illness, without ever complaining. Other patients in the ward praised her for being an exceptional daughter. Now that Romy's health had improved, they were all happy for her.
