Chapter 148 Fierce Quarrel
In order to deceive others, Evelyn walked into Huston’s office without any prior notice from Sam’s office. Sam wanted to stop. her, but he didn’t dare to do so. He could only try to persuade her, “Miss Shelton, President Lloyd has a meeting soon. Would you mind waiting for a moment?”
Without waiting for him to finish, Evelyn opened the door, strode straight into the office, and slammed her hand on the desk. Her eyes were filled with anger as she said, “Huston, what do you mean by firing Charlie?”
Huston was in the process of signing a document when she slammed her hand on the desk. As a result, the signature he had been writing became crooked. The document had to be printed and reviewed again.
He looked up unhappily and said, “What do you mean?”
“Huh.” She was so angry that she laughed. She looked around speechlessly and finally looked at his cold and handsome face again. “What right do you have to fire Charlie just because he confessed his love to me?”
The more she spoke, the more speechless she became. She couldn’t help raising her voice and questioning him, “What right do you have to do this?”
“Because I’m his boss. Is that enough of a reason?” The man’s
voice was terrifyingly calm as if firing Charlie was indifferent to him.
She couldn’t understand his indifference and even felt that he was heartless. She said, “You’re too arbitrary. Nothing happened between me and Charlie. You just fired him because you’re unhappy. It doesn’t make sense!”
“This is my company.” The implication was that he didn’t need a reason to do what he wanted to do because he was the boss here.
She was extremely speechless and couldn’t communicate with him at all. “Okay, it’s up to you. If you insist on firing him, I’ll resign!”
It had to be said that these words had a certain deterrent effect on him. After all, he knew very well how important this job was to her. She had never joked about her work, which was one of the reasons why he admired her.
But now, she was resigning for the sake of Charlie.
The man’s eyes turned cold, and he slammed the pen on the desk. His voice was neither loud nor soft, but it was full of threat when it reached her ears. “Are you resigning for the sake of Charlie?”
“He was fired because of me, and I could only do this now. Since I can’t stop you, I can only make things difficult for myself. If I do this, I won’t feel so guilty!” She was really angry because she had caused Charlie to lose a career he loved.
He sneered and said, “With your attitude now, do you think I’ll agree to your conditions?”
He mentioned attitude again!
