Chapter 173 He’s Running Away
His movements were extremely fast but restrained. He didn’t
make too much sound of water.
The ice-cold lake water quickly soaked her clothes. Evelyn didn’t know how to swim, so she didn’t dare to move the pistol on her waist. She was held passively in his arms, as stiff as iron.
“See if there’s anyone over there!” A fierce voice sounded in
their ears. The man was standing next to them, very close to them.
Evelyn knew that he was probably hiding from these people, and the group of people chasing after the gun-wielding man were not good people, so she did not choose to ask for help.
The rustling sound was particularly creepy in the dark night. Half a minute later, another man said, “Roy! Not here!”
“Damn it! I can’t believe he ran away. You guys split up and chased after him. I’ll keep moving forward. Catch him alive, okay?”
“Yes!”
“Yes!”
The group of people walked past her and got farther and farther away. She breathed a sigh of relief and struggled slightly in exchange for stronger imprisonment. “Don’t move, or I’ll beat you to death.”
Evelyn opened her mouth and bit his palm. The man’s body stiffened for a moment, but he didn’t let go. He just pushed the pistol against her forward.
After an unknown period of time, Evelyn’s whole body began to tremble from the lake water. Just when she thought that she was going to die in the wilderness, the man behind her finally dragged her ashore.
After regaining her freedom, Evelyn took a few deep breaths, came to her senses, stood up with her hands and feet, and
turned to run.
With a light click, a small spark exploded at her feet.
“Ah!” Evelyn immediately stopped, held her head with both
hands and squatted down. “Don’t shoot. I didn’t mean to hurt
you!”
The woman’s trembling voice could be heard, but one could
feel the helplessness without looking at her expression.
Bert stopped pulling the trigger, and his dark eyes fell on her weak back. After looking at her for a moment, he said, “Come here.”
Evelyn’s heart was beating so fast that she felt uncomfortable physically. She felt dizzy and light-footed, and she even felt nauseous. In just a few minutes after she climbed ashore from the lake, she broke out in a cold sweat.
This kind of terrible scene made her have no time to be afraid.
When she reached the peak of her emotions, she calmed down instead.
Evelyn put her hands on both sides of her head and slowly turned around in surrender. She saw an extremely pale but handsome face. His facial features were very three-dimensional, and his short hair made him look fierce, especially with the small but intimidating pistol in his hand.
The black muzzle was aimed at her head. Evelyn had no doubt that if she ran away, he would shoot her immediately.
Evelyn had no choice but to walk over.
The closer they got, the more they could smell the blood on his body.
