Chapter 288 Drunk and Disorderly
The next morning, Evelyn woke up not from the alarm clock
but from her cold and sore body. The first thing she did when she got up was to see if the man beside her was still there.
It was expected but unreasonable. He was not here.
Following the previous late return from work and staying out
all night, now he couldn’t even be seen in the morning.
With a self-deprecating sneer, Evelyn didn’t know how to face
see him.
She had drunk too much last night, and only a few scenes flashed through her mind, including him bringing her back
from the bar.
After sitting quietly for a while, Evelyn got up, put on her
shoes, and walked into the bathroom. Her clothes from last
night were still left in the bathroom, which was enough to show how fierce the “battle” was. Huston had been venting his
anger on her almost the whole time. She was unwilling to do that, but they knew each other too well. She would lose herself completely with a simple gesture, succumbing to his control.
Standing in front of the mirror, Evelyn pulled open a corner of her nightgown. Her body was covered in marks left behind by Huston. The bruises interweaved, creating a ghastly sight.
Ever since the two of them officially got together, he had rarely been so violent. Even when they were in bed, he still
cared about her feelings. Last night, he had lost his mind.
Evelyn didn’t dare to look at him for fear that she would lose.
control of her emotions again. She turned around, took off her
nightgown, and took a hot shower calmly.
After taking a shower, her body didn’t feel relaxed but even
heavier, and her head was dizzy. Evelyn forced herself to
drink a glass of oatmeal to perk up and then took a taxi to the
office. Thankfully, she wasn’t late.
After the morning meeting, she received a call from Grace.
“Are you all right?”
Her voice was still a little hoarse. It was obvious that she had
just woken up.
Evelyn walked to the emergency exit and said, “I’m fine. How
are you? Where did you sleep last night?”
On the other end of the line, Grace paused for a moment before continuing, “I’m in the hotel.”
The two of them knew each other so well that they could tell
that something was wrong with each other. Evelyn frowned and asked, “Did anything happen to you last night?”
“I’m fine. What could have happened to me…” Grace
deliberately raised her voice, but she couldn’t hide the guilty
conscience in her words.
Evelyn asked in a low voice, “How did you get to the hotel last night? Did someone pick you up?”
At this point, it was very difficult for Grace to hide what had
happened. With the relationship between Huston and Matt,
Evelyn would find out sooner or later.
So she told Evelyn everything that had happened last night.
“After we arrived at the hotel, as you know, I had a bit too
much to drink, and my mind was a bit fuzzy. I don’t remember
the specifics, but I recall being in the hotel with Matt. As
for how we ended up sleeping together, I honestly don’t
