Chapter 295 Standing Up for Her
“Huston, do you have work to do in the afternoon?”
“No.”
“That’s great. I’ll ask your grandma to cook a meal for you. Don’t you like carrot dumplings? I’ll ask her to make them for you.” Sir Lloyd suggested and then instructed, “Since you don’t have anyone to help you at home, have the driver go and buy
some fresh ingredients later.”
How could Huston not understand what they meant? If it were
under normal circumstances, he might have agreed. But now
that Evelyn was here, he politely declined, “There’s no need for
such trouble. We don’t usually cook at home. Let’s go out to
eat later.”
“The food outside is not as delicious as the food at home.
Besides, your grandma and I have come here. What’s the
trouble?” After saying that, Sir Lloyd glanced at Evelyn. “Does
Ms. Shelton think it’s inconvenient?”
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly explained, “No
such a thing. I’ll go with the driver to buy ingredients later.”
As soon as Sir Lloyd said that, it put Evelyn in a difficult
position. She couldn’t refuse, nor could she stay silent. It felt like she was being grilled over a fire.
Huston frowned. Seeing that he was about to lose his temper, Evelyn tugged on his sleeve and whispered, “Anyway, I have nothing to do in the afternoon. It’s all for you.”
Huston let out a deep breath and raised an eyebrow. “You know how to make dumplings?”
Evelyn looked a little embarrassed. “I can barely make it.”
She had some experience making dumplings when she was a child, but the dumplings she made didn’t look good, and the filling wasn’t well seasoned.
“Don’t regret it later.” After saying this, Huston did not say
anything else, leaving Evelyn alone in a mess.
Huston’s grandparents insisted on making dumplings, and
it was hard to refuse their kindness, so Evelyn couldn’t say
anything. She took her wallet and went out with the driver to buy ingredients.
After she left, Huston went downstairs. He had already
changed into his home clothes. His grandpa was drinking tea and watching TV in the living room while his grandma was busy in the kitchen.
Huston turned around and sat on the sofa opposite his
grandpa. He looked at the tea on the table and saw it was already cold without even a sip.
He looked up and happened to meet his grandpa’s eyes. After
all, they were his closest family, so they understood each.
other’s eyes.
“Just say what you want to say. You don’t have to look at me like that.” Sir Lloyd coughed, and he seemed to know what
Huston was thinking.
Without saying anything, Huston picked up the teacup on the table and took a sip before slowly putting it down. “What did you tell her?”
Hearing this, Sir Lloyd snorted. “Are you defending her?”
