Chapter 330 My Heart Will Hurt
Huston was stunned for a moment, but he quickly returned to
normal. He slowly unfastened his belt and said, “What are you doing? Why are you in such a hurry?”
With a red face, Evelyn looked away from him and coughed
softly. “Well, when did you hire a maid?”
“Not long ago,” Huston replied indifferently, accompanied by the sound of a zipper being pulled open.
Evelyn’s ears burned, and she dared not move her gaze, staring fixedly at the carpet beneath her feet. “I remember
you didn’t like having outsiders in the house. Why did you still
hire a maid?” she asked.
“I don’t like having outsiders in the house, but you can’t handle
everything alone,” Huston replied. On a few occasions, he saw
the small cuts on her fingers while she delivered meals to him.
Alongside his concern for her, he considered this matter. So,
before being discharged from the hospital, he hired a maid.
Evelyn was naturally willing to have an extra person to help, but thinking about his childhood experiences and knowing his aversion towards maids and strangers, she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. “I can manage on my own. It was
just a bit busier during your hospitalization period, but I can handle everything fine on regular days.”
“But my heart will hurt,” Huston said as he approached her. He unfastened his belt and pulled it out, allowing his pants to hang loosely around his waist, revealing a glimpse of the edge
of his underwear.
Evelyn took a step back, and he stepped forward. As he approached her, she was forced into a corner.
Her body pressed against the hard wall. Evelyn couldn’t help but swallow, lifting her hands and placing them between the
two bodies, which were already quite close.
Huston placed his hand on the side of her head. “What did I do to make you think I look like a hooligan?”
Evelyn couldn’t be bothered to expose him. “You know what you’re thinking, yet you still ask!”
“Oh.” Huston drawled and suddenly thought of something.
“We did have a lot of beautiful memories here before.”
He deliberately emphasized those words, clearly hinting at
Evelyn.
Images of their intimate moments flashed through Evelyn’s mind, causing her face to instantly turn red. Annoyed and
embarrassed, she glared at Huston. “Can you be serious?” she
exclaimed.
“The maid has been hired. I won’t fire her. It’s good to have someone at home to help you. That’s all.”
“But…”
“There’s no ‘but.”” He interrupted her. “I don’t like it, but I can
give in for your sake.”
Evelyn had words on her tongue, but his statement stifled them. It felt somewhat delicate. Both of them were trying to consider the other’s feelings, but they ended up disagreeing because they were too stuck in their own perspectives.
