Chapter 397 I Said I Wouldn’t Go Back Tonight
Downstairs, Sam was looking for him all over the place.
Seeing him coming down from the guest room elevator, he remembered that Ada had just said that she could not find Evelyn. He understood a little, but he secretly criticized, “Mr. Lloyd is really anxious. He can’t help it for a while.”
When Huston returned to the banquet hall, many of the company’s directors had already finished drinking. When they saw him return, they all came over to greet him and were all waiting to go home.
Naturally, Huston hoped that they could leave as soon as possible. There was a little girl upstairs that he was worried about.
Matt could tell that he was anxious, so he said teasingly, “If you’re in a hurry, go upstairs. I can handle it myself.”
“I am fine.”
Matt looked at the man’s calm expression and continued, “By the way, I heard that you’ve also won an award for Evelyn. Good job.”
The man finally looked at him and said calmly, “If you have time, think about your own problems. Don’t bother my girlfriend.”
After that, Huston walked towards the door, leaving Matt alone in the same place, making Evelyn feel annoyed.
A fair and clean face suddenly flashed through Matt’s mind. The expression on Matt’s face froze for a moment. He understood what she meant, but he was a little disappointed.
Huston walked to the door and chatted with an elder-level director who had been in charge of the company since the founding of the company. They did not talk about work but mostly greeted each other.
While they were talking, the private phone in his trouser pocket rang. After giving a slight signal, he walked to a corner and picked it up. “Hello?”
“Huston, are you still busy?” Mia asked softly, “I heard that your had an annual meeting today. I made you some hangover soup. Come back quickly.””
“There’s no need.” Huston interrupted her. His gaze fell on the scattered snowflakes outside the window. “I’m not going back tonight.”
You’re not coming back? Then where do you live? It’s snowing outside. Is it convenient for you?”
Although her voice was full of concern, Huston could still hear her hidden requests.
Mia was begging him, begging him in such a gentle tone.
All of a sudden, Huston lost his patience and said, “I said I’m not going back tonight, Mia.””
This was the first time that Huston had spoken to her in such a direct and impatient tone in so many years. Mia was just asking if he would come back. Did he have to dislike her so much?
Mia looked at the boiling water in the pot. She hadn’t had time to make the hangover soup yet, but now it seemed that there was no need to make it.
It was as if a ball of cotton had been stuffed into her chest, suffocating her. “Huston, do you think I disturbed you and Miss Shelton? Well, I’ll move out tonight.”
