Chapter 407 Meeting the Parents
While Ben was pondering, someone knocked on the door. Then he heard Evelyn ask tentatively, “Dad, are you done with it? I’m in a hurry to use my phone.”
She couldn’t hear or see anything and was very anxious now.
Ben walked to the door with Evelyn’s phone and pulled the door open. He handed the phone to her with a calm
expression. “Here.”
Evelyn took it and immediately clicked on the latest call
history. It was five minutes and thirteen seconds, neither too long nor too short.
She followed behind Ben and asked, “Dad, what did you talk
about? What did he say?”
“No.” Ben did not intend to explain his conversation with
Huston. He just walked to the kitchen door and talked to Lucy.
“Are you free on the day Evelyn goes back?”
Lucy was warming up the dishes that had cooled down at noon. She thought for a moment and nodded. “Yes.”
“Then you go back with Evelyn to her current place.”
“Where?”
“What?”
Lucy and Evelyn said at the same time and looked at Ben in
surprise.
“Huston wants you to go over. You can see if you have time. then.” Ben returned to his room after speaking as if he didn’t want to get involved in anything.
“Mom, what’s wrong with Dad?”
Lucy covered her mouth and laughed. “Your dad feels embarrassed now. He insisted on making the phone call and ended up having to accept Huston’s invitation.”
Evelyn was stunned for a moment and finally understood, but she was repeatedly shocked. She always felt that after this vacation, her relationship with Huston would take a qualitative leap…
“But don’t try to avoid it. I think this young man is quite active. Our conditions are not outstanding. Don’t be like before and be picky…”
“Mom!” Evelyn didn’t want to hear this. “I know what I’m doing. Don’t say it.”

“Okay, okay, I won’t say anything.” A smile finally appeared
on Lucy’s face. At the very least, she could tell from Huston’s words that it wasn’t her daughter’s wishful thinking.
Since Evelyn divorced Jerry, Lucy and Ben had been concerned about her. Although Evelyn didn’t have outstanding qualities in every aspect, she was still a good match. However, having been divorced once, she might be unable to find
another suitable man. Now that there was a man who was
sincerely good to her, and they could support each other
going forward, it was better than anything else.
When Evelyn returned to her room, she immediately called Huston. The other end of the line was picked up instantly, and
Huston’s voice was a little tense. “Hello?”
Hearing his uneasy voice, Evelyn knew that he was also
startled just now. She pursed her lips and chuckled softly, “It’s
me.”
As Huston parked the car in front of the villa and turned off
the engine, he sat inside without moving. He sighed in relief, and his first words were, “From now on, if your parents call me, you must let me know in advance.!”
“What’s wrong? Are you nervous?” Evelyn was mocking him.
