Chapter 430 Who Could Understand His Hardships?
Brad was still kneeling on the ground. He clenched his fists, his arms hanging down, and the veins on his forehead bulged because of the emotional ups and downs. “Do you know Ms. Klein doesn’t treat you as a brother? I hope you can face up to this relationship and take good care of her. If you can’t accept it, please cut off her fantasy as soon as possible, and don’t let her fall deeper into it.”
The two of them were the only ones in the villa. Brad’s voice echoed in the living room. After listening to him, Huston didn’t rush to answer. Instead, he stared at him for a long time.
After a long while, Huston chuckled, but there was no warmth in his laughter. “Do you think I’m stalling? How dare you make such a judgment when you know something?”
He emphasized the words, which was a kind of venting. It was
not difficult to see that Brad had angered him.
He walked up to Brad, squatted down, and looked him in the eye. His terrifying aura made it difficult for Brad to look straight into his eyes. “Do you think I don’t know about that? Do you think I don’t want to refuse? Her current physical
condition is not good. If I tell her and something happens
her, can you bear the responsibility for me? Brad, you have been with me for many years, and I thought you understood my hardships. But I never expected you to think of me like
this.”
There was disappointment in his fierce words.
Brad was stunned and completely forgot to react.
“I have someone I love and want to spend the rest of my life with her. Do you think I’m having a good time like this? Which man wants the woman he loves to suffer such grievance? I’m living such a hard life now because of the responsibilities on my shoulders. What do you know?” As Huston spoke, he couldn’t help but feel emotional, and his sharp, deep black eyes turned bloodshot.
Perhaps it was due to being on the verge of an emotional breakdown; Huston couldn’t help but stand up for himself. Evelyn didn’t understand him, and Kevin occasionally tried to persuade him. Now, even Brad was evaluating him in this way. He knew that it was often difficult to have the best of both
worlds. He never expected too much, but now he couldn’t even
receive the most basic understanding.
Who could understand his hardships and reluctance?
After the incident, Evelyn took a long leave of absence and
started considering her future career. Although she and
Huston just worked upstairs and downstairs, they never saw each other again.
It wasn’t until the day of Ben’s surgery when he was being pushed into the operating room, that Huston hurriedly
arrived.
The tall figure cast a daunting presence as he walked against the light at the end of the corridor, creating an oppressive atmosphere. Huston glanced at Evelyn and Lucy sitting on the bench in the hallway, but instead of immediately approaching them, he conversed with the medical staff nearby.
“The patient’s condition before entering the operating room is fine, and there shouldn’t be any problems. The surgeon operating is also the best in the entire department. Mr. Lloyd, you can rest assured,” the head nurse reassured him. She knew that this man had an extraordinary identity as the best friend of Dean Lane, so she naturally dared not be neglectful.
Hearing this, Huston relaxed, and his gaze unconsciously turned towards Evelyn beside him.
It had been nearly half a month since the last time they
quarreled. He knew that she didn’t want to see him. As long as
the matter with Mia couldn’t be solved, she wouldn’t let it go.
