Chapter 440 I’m Serious. I Want to Resign
“It doesn’t matter whether you mean it or not because you’ve already done it.” Evelyn had never known that one day she would be so resistant to contact with him. It was so serious
that she didn’t even want to hear his voice.
He had brought her so much pain that her love was about to disappear. She didn’t know how long she could hold on.
Huston didn’t want to argue with her and knew that the two of them weren’t in a stable mood. After calming down, he said, “Let’s go downstairs for dinner first. You still have a low fever. The doctor said that you can’t have an empty stomach. You can’t take medicine until you finish eating.”
Evelyn took a deep breath. “I want to go home.”
When she said she wanted to go home, it was definitely not
this home, but Lucy and Ben’s.
Huston frowned and was worried about her current situation.
“How are you going to go home like this?”
“I’ll take a taxi.” Evelyn didn’t want to say another word,
showing an unprecedented coldness in her attitu
him.
“Evelyn.” Huston’s voice was low and deep, tinged with a hint of hostility, but he suppressed it in the end. “Stay here tonight. I’ll send you back tomorrow morning.”
Both of them were enduring each other. Seeing how
persistent he was, Evelyn’s heart did not waver in the slightest. She actually wanted to laugh. She did not know what Huston was holding on to. They had already come to this point. What else was there that he could not bear to part with? Could it be that he loved her?
Even if he loved her, Mia stood between them, and she
couldn’t accept it.
“You said you wanted to talk.” Evelyn was finally willing to turn around and look straight at Huston.
Huston’s eyes were gloomy, and undercurrents were surging
in his heart. “Yes.”
“Okay, I’ll talk to you.” After that, Evelyn went straight to the bedroom door without waiting for his response. Huston could
only see her slender figure walking away. “Let’s go to the
study.”
Huston’s already furrowed brows grew even tighter, and his
thought of what she might say later, his heart began to palpitate with fear.
However, he couldn’t stop her. This negotiation would come sooner or later. The longer it dragged on, the more she would
hate him.
Huston lowered his gaze, his eyelashes trembling slightly. He stood in place for a while, then walked towards the direction Evelyn had left, his usually steady steps now carrying an imperceptible sense of anxiety.
In the study, the window on the wall was open, and the dark gray gauze curtain was blown up. A breeze swept past with a trace of coldness in the winter. Evelyn simply looked around,
and her eyes turned red again.
It was not that she was sentimental but that there were too many memories of them in this place. Now it seemed that they were all ready to say goodbye.
Not long after, there came the orderly footsteps from behind.
It was Huston.
