Chapter 503 Take You Away Regardless of the Consequences
“I can find a way to find out,” Bert leaned slightly to the left, adopting a more casual sitting posture as if he were sitting in his own upscale club. “While you eagerly await a victory, do you know what Huston is doing?”
Evelyn felt her heart tighten and subconsciously retorted, “What else can he do except help me?”
“Help you?” Bert smiled briefly, took out the phone from his pocket, and pushed it in front of her. “Take a look at it. This is how he helps you.”
Evelyn looked at the screen, knowing she shouldn’t, yet unable to resist the temptation to lower her head and read the words displayed on it.
This was an exceptionally concise and clear electronic document that detailed the matters related to this lawsuit, including the signature of the attorney-in-fact, Huston. Its credibility was remarkably high. As a graduate of law studies, Evelyn could tell at a glance that there was almost no possibility of fabrication.
She didn’t read it carefully; she just skimmed through it quickly, capturing the keywords. However, as she continued reading, her expression grew increasingly grim.
Bert watched her scroll through the electronic document until the end, realizing she had almost finished reading it. He leaned forward slightly, placing his hands on the desk, and asked, “How do you feel?”
Evelyn didn’t say anything, and the hair on her forehead covered her expression. Looking at the whole document, the most impressive thing to her was…
“Considering the circumstances of voluntary surrender, we hope the court can render a lenient judgment.”
Surrender?
Evelyn’s shoulders trembled. The door was closed, but she felt a chill on her back as if a cold wind had poured in and poured into her heart.
“Impossible… That’s impossible!” Evelyn forcefully pushed away the phone. Her eyes uncontrollably widened, her pupils contracted, and her whole body tensed.
Bert glanced at the phone on the table, picked it up, and put it in his pocket. “If you don’t believe me, you can call him and ask.”
His words successfully stunned Evelyn. Why? Why did he have the audacity to say such a thing?
“Huston wouldn’t do that. He promised to clear my name, and I will never plead guilty!” Evelyn stood up from her chair as if she couldn’t stand the atmosphere. She turned to the door and shouted, “Officer, please take him out!”

pressed her shoulders with both hands and brought her back to her seat. “Evelyn, this is reality. You have to face it.”
