Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 518

Chapter 518 It’s All Fate

After leaving the police station, Grace went to the Hub Apartment to visit Evelyn’s parents the next day.

The two elderly people, especially Ben, had visibly become much thinner amidst their daily worries and anxieties. Ben used to be full of vitality, with everyone praising his radiant appearance, but now he appeared significantly older. He was wearing a slightly faded shirt with no trace of vitality on his face. As for Lucy, the white hair on the top of her head had grown a lot, and her eyes appeared somewhat swollen from frequent crying.

Grace brought a lot of supplements from home, understanding that they might not have time to take care of themselves, but she still couldn’t rest assured. “Mr. Shelton, Mrs. Shelton, you don’t have to worry. I went to see Evelyn yesterday, and she’s fine. Although she’s at the police station, everyone takes good care of her because of Huston’s influence. Her meals are prepared separately. Her condition is not much different from usual.”

Because she couldn’t bear, to tell the truth in front of the two elderly people who were over fifty, she lied.

Hearing her words, Lucy’s eyes widened. She tightly held her hand, exerting force without realizing it. “What did you say? You went to see Evelyn?”

Grace freed up a hand to pat the back of her hand and comforted her. “Yes, Mrs. Shelton. I went to see Evelyn.”

“How is she doing now? Is she physically all right? Did she mention anything about the lawsuit to you? How much longer does she have to stay in there?” Lucy said anxiously and incoherently. “I believe Evelyn would never commit such a crime as murder. Since she was little, her father and I taught her well. She’s not that kind of child…”

“I know, Mrs. Shelton. Don’t worry. The trial hasn’t taken place yet, and everything is still unknown. The media will release all kinds of true or false news just to attract attention.”

It is often said that a real man doesn’t easily shed tears, but in this case, the strong and resolute Ben couldn’t help but have tears welling up in his eyes. “How is Evelyn doing now? Is she in good health?”

“She’s fine. She also asked me to come see you for fear that you will worry about her.”

“Why didn’t she contact us if she was afraid we would worry!” Ben said angrily. He wasn’t blaming her, but he didn’t want her to bear everything alone.

“The police station has regulations that do not allow frequent contact with family members. Mrs. Shelton, please don’t worry. Evelyn is really fine,” Grace reassured them repeatedly, concerned that their health would be affected by worrying too

much.

They were already quite old and couldn’t bear even a slight emotional disturbance.

The heavy stone in their hearts finally fell, and the two quietly wiped away their tears. Lucy was more sensitive as a woman, and once she started crying, it was hard to stop. “Ben, we have lived honest, hardworking, and law-abiding our whole lives. What have we done to encounter such troubles…”

Ben didn’t say anything, and his face darkened.

Grace gently patted their shoulders and comforted them with warmth. “Mr. Shelton, Mrs. Shelton, don’t be too sad. I’m sure Evelyn is also worried about you. If she knew you were so sad, she might even blame me. She said the trial will end soon, and then she can come back home.”

“This trial…” Lucy’s voice choked, unable to form complete sentences. She spoke intermittently, saying, “Can this trial be easily won?”

“Huston is helping her. The chances of her winning are very high.” At this moment, Grace did not know that Huston had already made the decision to plead guilty.

Ben took Lucy into his arms and sighed with emotion. “Fate…

It’s all fate…”

Grace couldn’t help but feel sad when she saw this. She hoped that all of this would end as soon as possible and their life could return to normal. Otherwise, no one would be able to hold on.
