Chapter 519 The Trial Is Approaching
Evelyn didn’t know how she managed to endure the two nights in the detention center. All she knew was that her legs felt weak when someone mentioned taking her out.
Due to the dampness in the room, the unappetizing meals, and the inadequate supply of nutrients needed during pregnancy, her body became extremely weak.
Seeing her swaying, the person beside her asked, “Are you all right, Ms. Shelton?”
“I am fine.”
“We’re going to the court later. If you don’t feel well, you can tell
me now.”
“Okay, I know.” Evelyn gritted her teeth. If she told him she was not feeling well, the trial would have to be delayed. She didn’t want to wait any longer.
Evelyn was escorted into the car. The car drove smoothly all the way. Before arriving at the court gate, Evelyn felt a car slowly following them.
“These reporters are risking their lives for the news!” One of the people in charge of escorting Evelyn complained to the driver.
“Yes. Maybe news like this could make them earn a considerable amount of money.”
Hearing their conversation, Evelyn felt sad. She didn’t know when she had become a topic of conversation for others.
Fortunately, one couldn’t see the situation inside the car from the outside, which brought her a sense of security that she couldn’t explain.
When the escort car arrived at the court gate, it was quickly surrounded by reporters from various media companies. Looking at the cameras, Evelyn couldn’t help feeling cold in her
seat.
“Ms. Shelton, we’ll cover your head when we leave the car later. Please cooperate.”
Evelyn glanced at the dark gray cloth in the man’s hand and clenched her fists. She suddenly decided and said, “No, I didn’t do anything wrong. Why should I leave with my face covered?”
She was not the wrong one and not the one who should be
covered.
Regardless of how the outside world commented and how public opinion spread, she maintained her integrity and composure. She was clear in her own heart. She would never admit to something she had never done. This was her principle.
The police officer was a man in his early thirties. When he heard
this, he looked at Evelyn with more admiration. Many men did not dare to do so. “We respect your choice.”
Two police officers supported her, one on each side, as she stepped out of the car. As soon as she exited the vehicle, the camera flashes started flickering rapidly. The entrance of the courthouse instantly turned into a dazzling sea of lights, with the brightness overwhelming.
Evelyn almost couldn’t open her eyes. She stretched out her hand to block it slightly, and then she was dragged forward. Although she couldn’t see anything, she could hear their voices.
“Ms. Shelton, we heard that today is the court hearing, and Mr. Lloyd is personally attending. Could you share the preparations on your side?”
“Ms. Shelton, we have heard that you have consistently denied the murder allegations against you. Regarding the trial, how confident are you in clearing your name?”
