Chapter 531 25 Years Imprisonment
The wait for the verdict was long and tedious. In prison, Evelyn followed a routine of waking up, training, and receiving education, with little else to occupy her time.
She was well aware that the reason for her leisurely existence was undoubtedly due to Huston’s connections. Otherwise, she would have long been subjected to laborious tasks and hardships.
However, despite this, Evelyn’s heart was still filled with endless sorrow each day, facing the empty and damp room. She deeply understood the significance of one’s environment. Apart from the psychological distress, she also endured physical torment as she sensitively noticed that her morning sickness was becoming increasingly apparent.
The food in prison was not to her liking. Although the food served to her could be considered the best, the oil and fatty meat in them would make her feel nauseous and disgusted.
Every time she ate, she was afraid of being discovered by the prison guards, so she could only hold it back to prevent herself from retching.
During this time, Huston had never been here. Because she had turned over the confession in court, the difficulty of the case was much greater. She knew that there must be a lot of things he needed to do. He had called her twice.
She asked him, “Can you bail me out?”
The man on the other end of the line was silent for two seconds. “I will try my best.”
She already had a clear understanding in her heart upon hearing those few words.
A month wasn’t long, but it wasn’t short either. In the end, it
came.
“No. 0485, come out. It’s your turn.” The prison guard called Evelyn out of the room.
The moment Evelyn walked out of the door, her heart beat faster. One step, two steps, three steps… She slowly walked towards the prison gate until the car responsible for escorting her appeared in her sight.
As she left the room, Evelyn’s heart started racing. Step by step, she made her way toward the direction of the prison gate until she saw the vehicle responsible for escorting her out.
“Let’s go. Hurry up. It’s too late.” Someone urged from behind.
Evelyn slowly looked away and walked toward the car. It was a long way, but she was very nervous. No one knew what she was thinking. Only she knew that her hands were trembling.
When she got in the car, she deliberately glanced at the driver. It was a man in his forties, wearing a dark blue uniform. His hair
was very short and neat.
Her gaze only stayed on his face for less than three seconds. Soon, she looked away and got into the car and was
well-behaved.
The car drove smoothly until it reached the entrance of the courthouse.
After getting out of the car, Evelyn was brought to a room. Huston was already waiting for her with a grave expression. It was obvious that he had received the verdict.
