Chapter 536 The Car Exploded
Surprised, Evelyn watched his series of actions, completely unaware of what he intended to do. “I can’t get over there! You’re still squatting there. How can I pass?”
“It’s okay. You first bring your leg over, just a little, and I’ll continue to squat down,” the man said urgently, his expression showing no signs of relaxation. “We don’t have much time left. If we delay any longer, it will be too late!”
“But…”
“The current speed of the vehicle is 120 kilometers per hour. Based on calculations, there is a tunnel at the midpoint of the return journey. After passing through the tunnel, a mountainous area is on top of the mountain, with a moat surrounding Jewel City below. It leads to other places. We need to drive the car into that lake, and just before the car falls into the water, we will jump out and escape.” The man spoke rapidly, trying to convey every detail as clearly as possible.
Driving into the river, and jumped out of the car.
Hearing this, Evelyn’s heart trembled. The average person’s body couldn’t withstand such torment, and even a mere second of delay could mean being submerged in the river.
Her heart was beating so fast that it felt like it would deafen her. Evelyn quickly calculated the probability of success in her
mind… It was too low as if it was an impossible task.
Seeing that she was unwilling to move, the man narrowed his eyes and looked at her. “Ms. Shelton, do you believe in Mr. Harper?”
Did she believe him?
She probably believed him. If she didn’t, what was she doing now? The moment the man destroyed the wire net, there was no turning back.
Evelyn took a deep breath. Although the hesitation in her eyes did not fade, she began to move her body according to the man’s instructions.
As the speeding car continued moving, Evelyn slowly shifted towards the left, inching closer to the driver’s seat.
“Now reach out and hold the steering wheel. I’ll squat down. You follow the driving path ahead and continue driving.” After saying that, the man handed the steering wheel to her and quickly squatted down.
The two squeezed into the cramped space. The man was larger in stature, so it took some time for Evelyn to successfully maneuver her entire body over. Although she held the steering wheel, she had no control over the accelerator. The man was the one trying to maintain the speed of the car.
Half a minute later, the dark tunnel entrance appeared with yellow lights on. Evelyn broke out in a cold sweat and exclaimed
in a low voice, “We’re about to enter the tunnel!”
Evelyn felt that her life was hanging by a thread at that very moment. It was evident that as she uttered those words, the man’s body also tensed up.
After a while, the man’s steady voice came. “Don’t panic.”
She didn’t know what he was doing. She just felt that his arms would touch her legs occasionally. She didn’t dare to move or even lower her head. She sat stiffly in the driver’s seat.
Looking at the road ahead, she reminded him in a panic, “We have already walked one-third of the tunnel. What should we do? What should I do now?”
