Chapter 54 Why Do You Never Kiss Me
“Evelyn.” Huston held her face in his hands and called out her name. When their eyes met, he realized that there was no focus in her eyes. “Look at me.”
She closed her eyes and tears rolled down her checks. “Huston, I’m doomed. Jerry won’t let me off…”
“He won’t.” The man’s voice was calm, and every word was so firm. “He won’t die.”
Hearing this, she opened her eyes. Her long eyelashes were wet with tears, and she looked as if she had been fished out of the water. “… Really?”
“Trust me.” He took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders. If he hadn’t seen her in a strange position before going to bed tonight, he didn’t what would happen.
She was sitting on the street in the middle of the night. Jerry was not dead yet, and perhaps something would happen to her first.
He brought her back to Royal Villa. When Evelyn returned, she was in a completely different state of mind than before.
Seeing her standing at the door in a daze, the man bent down slightly, took out a pair of slippers, and put them at her feet. “Go upstairs and take a shower.”
Evelyn couldn’t help tiahtoning her win on her clothes.
But she did as she was told. She took off her shoes silently and walked to the second floor.
When Huston was looking at the unsteady figure of the little woman, his handsome eyebrows once again tightened, but he did not say anything in the end.
Huston changed into his pajamas. He had to take care of some business, but when he heard the sound of running water in the bathroom of the master bedroom, he finally returned to the
room.
The man leaned against the headboard. Suddenly, there was a loud bang in the bathroom. Huston strode over and knocked on the door with his long fingers anxiously. “Evelyn?”
The sound of running water continued, but no one answered.
Huston’s eyes darkened. He directly opened the door.
In the dense steam, the woman squatted on the ground. Her black hair was wet and draped over her back. She was reaching out to pick up the broken crystal cup at her feet…
Huston stepped forward and pulled her up, but he was still a step too late. Her fingertip was hurt by the broken crystal cup, and it bled. But Evelyn didn’t feel anything. She lowered her head and said, “I’m sorry…”
Huston’s pent-up anger was finally ignited. He grabbed her wrist with most of his strength. “What are you sorry for?”
The rims of Evelyn’s eyes reddened. “I broke your things.”
Seeing that she lowered her head and did not speak, he pinched her cheeks and raised her head, forcing her to look at him. “Do you need me to say it for you? Are you sorry for breaking my things, or are you sorry for hitting Jerry?”
