Chapter 56 Torturing Each Other to the Age
Evelyn stumbled and almost fell, but she was supported by Ben. “Mrs. Nora Levis, let’s talk about it. Don’t hit her.”
“Hit her? Look at what she has done to my son! How dare you ask me not to hit her? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. You didn’t teach your daughter well!”
Hearing this, Evelyn frowned. “It’s indeed my fault. If there’s anything wrong, you can come to me. It has nothing to do with my parents.”
It didn’t matter how Nora scold her, but Ben and Lucy shouldn’t have suffered like this with her.
“You…”
“Mom, stop it.” Jerry suddenly interrupted her and looked at Evelyn. “Let’s talk in private.”
“No! You’re lying on the hospital bed now. What if she has bad intentions toward you again?”
“Mom!” Jerry stressed, “She won’t dare to do it when you’re all here. Don’t worry.”
In the end, Nora failed to persuade Jerry.
Everyone left, leaving only Jerry and him in the ward. Evelyn

Jerry didn’t expect that she would blame him instead of showing any concern for him. His eyes darkened. “What? Do you regret
it?”
“I regret it.” She didn’t hesitate at all. “I regret knowing you, liking you, and disregarding so many people’s opposition to marrying you.”
If she could go back in time, she would rather that she had never met this person.
At this point, there was no longer any affection between them. Maura was the last secret between them. When the secret was revealed, the ugliest look of them was revealed. In this relationship, his behavior was ugly, and hers was also not beautiful.
Obviously, Jerry did not expect her to say this. He was even a little stunned and looked at her in a daze, forgetting to react.
He had never seen her like this before. Her eyes, which had always been full of love, were now filled with endless indifference when she looked at him.
After a long while, Jerry came back to his senses. He looked at the back of his hand, which was still being injected. “Do you want to divorce? Do you think you can escape unscathed after you hurt me like this?”
She narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean?”
“If you give up the divorce, I’ll pretend that it didn’t happen. If you insist on divorcing me, I’ll sue you for intentional injury.” Seeing the trembling in her eyes, Jerry added, “Evelyn, think
me?”
Evelyn clenched her fists. “I promise you that I’ll leave without even a penny. Is that okay?”
“No.” Jerry raised his eyebrows and looked at her. “I’m going back on my word. I’m not going to divorce.”
Evelyn was stunned. Then she sneered. “Since you don’t love me, why bother?”
If they would torture each other and gradually distance themselves from each other for the rest of their lives, it was better to cut them off now and never see each other again.
“Are you in a hurry to leave me so that you can have fun with your adulterer?” Jerry’s eyes turned cold. “Even if I can’t get you, I won’t let others get you!”
Evelyn gritted her teeth in hatred. “You’re crazy!”
Jerry’s smile was frightening. “It’s a pity that you fell into my hands.”
Evelyn looked at the man in the hospital bed. The only
remaining worry had disappeared because of his words. How could a person do this?
“There is no medicine for regret in this world. You should have thought of this when you hit me on the head,” Jerry said as he pointed at his head.
Her eyes turned cold. “If I had known this would happen, I would have smashed you to death.”
