Chapter 701 I Want to Go Watch a
Huston brought Lucas to the most famous breakfast cafe in Jewel City, Peace Lounge. The owner of the cafe was a skilled chef specializing in regional cuisine. He had a particular fondness for Chinese Morning Tea and occasionally has an assistant called Michael pack some to bring to the office, even during busy times.
The car drove steadily, and inside the cabin, silence prevailed. No one spoke, yet it didn’t feel embarrassed. There was a gentle atmosphere of warmth spreading around.
When they arrived at Peace Lounge, it was almost eight o’clock, and there was a long queue outside the door. The seating inside was already full, so many people opted to get their orders to go. People of all ages, both men and women, including families with children, were present.
After parking the car, Huston wasted no time and went straight to the child’s side, assisting him out of the car. Once Lucas stood firmly, Huston didn’t rush
et go; instead, he instinctively held onto the soft and delicate hand. His heart was filled with immense excitement, yet he maintained a calm expression on his face.
On the way to the restaurant, he had already greeted the restaurant owner and booked a private room for them. Upon entering the restaurant, they went straight to the second floor and had just taken their seats when a waiter approached with the menu.
Without even looking at the menu, Huston turned to Lucas and asked, “What would you like to eat?”
Lucas glanced at the menu and subtly sniffed, then said, “I can’t understand it.”
Due to his young age, he didn’t recognize many characters.
Huston had a belated realization, realizing that he may not have been attentive enough in hist interactions with the child. He felt a bit annoyed at his own carelessness and quickly asked, “Lucas, do you prefer sweet or savory?”
“It’s sweet.
Huston ordered a serving of Boat Congee, Flat Rice Noodles, and noodles. His gaze fell on the snacks in the lower right corner, including Shrimp Dumplings, Custard Buns, BBQ Pork Buns, Osmanthus Cakes, and Curry Fish Balls. All of them were Evelyn’s favorites. He still remembered how many servings she had had when they dined together in the past.
At the thought of these memories, the man’s gaze unconsciously softened. He ordered all the dishes she loved, regardless of the fact that she wasn’t actually present.
After the waiter took note of their order and left the- private room, only the father and son remained. Huston picked up the water cup in front of Lucas, poured a cup of warm water, and handed it to him. saying, “Have some water.”
Previously, when they were out, Huston often noticed others carrying water bottles with their children, which left an impression that children shouldn’t go without water.
Lucas had already had water before leaving, and he wasn’t thirsty at all now. He hesitated for a moment, but still graciously picked up the cup and drank more than half of it.
“What would you like to do after we finish eating?” Huston’s voice was gentle and soft, devoid of the arrogant and pretentious demeanor he displayed in front of others.
Lucas put down his cup and thought for a moment, “I want to go watch a movie.”
“A movie?” Li Huston asked.
“Yes!” Lucas nodded, “My godmother told me about an amazing animated film that we had planned to watch together, but unfortunately, I moved away from there.”
Speaking of these things, a sense of disappointment couldn’t help but appear on Lucas’s face, feeling great pity.
Huston raised an eyebrow, “Godmother?”
