Chapter 38
It does happen when I drink a lot of Jack Daniels.”
“And that is what you have been drinking.” he reminded her.
She moved away and wrote something down on a pad of paper. “Just take this. I am going to get my belongings, you can keep my dress,” she laughed as she put on his t–shirt.
He watched her walk out and move to the door. He sat on the floor by the door and watched her go to her room. His eyes rolled closed as he thought about how she looked naked.
“Sir…” He frowned and opened his eyes only to see a bellboy looking at him.
“What?”
“Your door is wide open, Sir,” as the bellboy spoke, Benjamin’s mind was filled with the events from the night before. He glanced around the room for Dora, but she was not there. He leaped up and ran down to her room.
“Dora!” He yelled as he burst through the open doorway, but there was just a maid there looking at him, with her mouth open.
“The woman in this room, where is she?” he asked.
“She just went downstairs to check out,” the bell boy said before Ben sprinted away from him, heading for the elevator.
“Benjamin,” someone yelled but he didn’t stop.
He pushed the button to call for the elevator, “Come on, come on,” He chanted as he looked at the floor numbers. It was too slow, so he ran for the stairs. He ran into the lobby and tripped over some luggage.
“Benjamin!” his sister, Alexis called and he looked around, knowing he was too late. Dora was gone.
“I need to find her.”
“Need to find who?” Milton asked.
“My wife,” he replied, standing up.
Ben walked over to the manager, who didn’t look pleased to see him. “Sir, please go back to your room,” he ordered.
“Tell me who was in five–seven–nine?” he countered and he shook his head at Benjamin.
“Sorry, I can’t.”
“How much money do you want?” he asked, patting for his wallet. He stopped when his hand didn’t touch his normal attire. He could tell that he was almost naked. All except for his silky boxers. That didn’t make things better. “I am just going to my room and get dressed,” he told the manager and walked away, whistling.
Benjamin turned but walked into Milton who was holding out some clothes. ‘I think you forgot these, he chuckled.
“Fuck off, Milton,‘ he hissed at the other, not in the mood. He needed to find his girl. “Wait, can you do a police search for her?” he asked Milton, he looked around the room and then at him.
“No, I can’t.”
“Fuck you then, he swore, storming away. He walked into the elevator and got dressed as it took him back to his floor.
“Benjamín, I can’t use my work for you to find some chick,” Milton sighed as he walked into Ben’s room. “What room was she in?”
– a sun–kissed tan, dark brown eyes, her hair was long, straight. She had a husky voice; she’s about five–four or five, about twenty–two–three years
“Anything else… where did she work?*
Benjamin thought about it. He knew that he had asked. What did she tell him again? “She worked in a library, Ben informed Milton as he remembered.
“I thought maybe it was my friend, she has a similar first name, but she’s way short only five–two; she’s older, like twenty–nine, and she’s pale as a ghost. Besides, she was in another room, so the other direction from your room.
