Before she could finish her warning, she dropped down to her knees and vomited all over the floor.

“Sorry. I’m so sorry. I’ll clean this up,” she muttered as she felt Benjamin’s hand run up and down her back.

“We here paid staff that will clean it up,” Benjamin whispered to her. “Come on,” he said firmly. A few seconds later, he seemed to get tired of waiting and picked her up.

Benjamin gently placed her on a bed and started to look her over without saying a word. “I am going to get an EKG on you,” he

informed her as he walked out of the room.

She swallowed, shaking her head. She felt so much better–safer–now that Benjamin was with her. But deep down, she knew that he

needed to be with his wife.

She heard her cell ring and sighed before picking it up. “Hey,” she whispered.

“Pandora, what the hell has happened? I saw your car on a tow truck Keira yelled, sounding frantic.

“My car broke down on the freeway… I was so scared,” Pandora admitted, feeling the panic coming back over her.

“What- your car’s only a few years old?”

“I don’t know. The policeman that helped me drove me to the hospital, and I have to get an EKG.”

“Shit! Ron and I are on our way,” she told Pandora.

Immediately she protested, “I’m fine.”

“Bullshit, and if Derrik caused this or any of the other shit that’s been happening, then I am going to kick his ass myself!”

“Come on, Keira. Derrik wouldn’t do this to the car. Putting the Kool–Aid in my bed or listing the furniture on Craigslist, maybe because those are pranks in his eyes. I just don’t think he’d mess up my car so that it broke down on me. I could have been killed,” Pandora gasped.

She wanted to believe this had nothing to do with Derrik, but another part of her knew better. Derrik was not the man she always thought he was.

“We’ll be there soon.”

“I have the EKG machine,” Benjamin announced, sounding tight–lipped. “You need to remove your blouse and bra,” he said as Emily walked in with a gown.

Chapter 61

“You should be with Malsey, Candora said, trying to make herself sound strong as he taped little round discs with wires on them to her.

“She’s fine; my mom and dad are with her,” he said as he looked at the machine. “I am riot happy with your heart rate or oxygen fevel,” he announced, acting like a doctor again. “Your blood pressure is high as well.”

Pandora looked at him as he pulled his hair.

“Do you think you could give me a urine sample?”

She nodded at him, and he passed her the cup, Emily then helped her to the toilet. When she was finished, Emily walked her back to the bed. Once she was situated, Emily moved out of the room with the sample with her.

“What happened?”

Pandora sighed, knowing that she was going to have to tell him what had happened. The fact that his wife just had a car accident would make it hard on him. She took her time going through what had happened, and she was barely able to keep herself together as she told him about the entire time she was trapped on the road alone.

“Fuck Benjamin hissed. “That is literally one of the busiest roadways in the city. You could have been killed.”

“I know,” she whispered. “I think that’s why I am so out of it.”

“It sounds like your body is in shock–not a good thing on most days, and more so when you’re pregnant.”

“Pandora!” Keira called as she and Ron burst through the door.

“I’ll come back in an hour to see you,” Benjamin announced as he left quickly.

*See, I told you, he doesn’t like me,” Ron whined to Keira.

“Hello? Pandora almost died, whiney–ass,” Keira scolded, pointing at her.

It took no time for Keira and Ron to have her laughing.

“Hey, Emily,” she said smiling as she walked in to do another round of checks. “Can I go downstairs for

Pandora pouted at her and gave her puppy–dog eyes. It didn’t work as she just raised her brow at her in return. “Pandora, your heart rate is still fast, as well as your blood pressure, so a wheelchair or you stay here.”
