Abbey finally let out a satisfied grin. With Flora carted away, Abbey was convinced she’d never be seen again—destined for dissection and to become a human specimen!
"Ha-ha-ha!" Abbey laughed maniacally, her voice hoarse and ragged. She was weak from blood loss, yet the thought of Flora's impending doom filled her with glee. "Flora, you’ll join me in hell! Ha-ha-ha!"
A young man kicked her fiercely, pressing down hard on Abbey’s wound. "You could die a thousand times, and my sister will still live a good life!"
Abbey shrieked in agony, but her eyes glistened with the thrill of revenge. The young man, seething with anger, ordered, "Get two people to take her away, slice off her flesh piece by piece, and make her eat it! Keep going until there’s nothing left, then break her bones and feed them to the dogs!"
"To the rest of you, follow me now! Aiden, gather everyone!"
He was hell-bent on rescuing his sister!
"But sir..." Aiden hesitated.
"Go!"
For his sister, he’d stop at nothing!
The young man and his crew hurried off, while Moss and Beck snuck in. "Boss, what’s our move now?"
"Beck, get out there and spread the word. Have our people ready to storm the island anytime!"
The island was heavily fortified, and though it was risky to attack now, Flora’s safety was worth every gamble.
"Got it."
Beck dashed out. Outside, the young man was busy plotting, all for Flora.
...
In the lab, Flora followed the old man inside. The overpowering smell of disinfectant mixed with the undeniable odor of blood made Flora wrinkle her nose.
"The professor’s in the middle of an experiment. We’ll go in shortly," the old man said, stopping at the glass door to watch Eula work. It was a silent rule—never disturb the professor during an experiment.
Flora paused too, peering through the glass. The experiment looked... familiar.
She observed Eula's steps and raised an eyebrow slightly. "The professor’s already at this stage!" the old man exclaimed, eyes ablaze. "Looks like this time, it’ll be a success!"
He’d never gotten this far before! Flora gave him a sideways glance. "You're overthinking it. He's about to fail."
The old man's face fell, displeased with Flora’s remark. This girl, running her mouth. She barely knew basic medical skills, yet dared to criticize the professor’s work!
"Boom!"
A loud explosion suddenly echoed from the lab! The old man was startled as Eula emerged, soot-covered and grim-faced.
"Professor, don’t lose heart," he rushed over. "You’ve made significant progress to get this far."
Eula’s face was streaked with soot. Without a word, he walked over to Flora, his gaze heavy. "How did you know my experiment would fail?"
