Sophie couldn't help but roll her eyes in exasperation.
Crimson, noticing Sophie's expression, leaned over to see what was up and burst into laughter.
Sophie was very much alive, yet her enthusiastic online followers were already planning a memorial as if she'd been gone for a week.
Rubbing her temples to ease the growing headache, Sophie clicked on the trending topic.
"Oh no, my dear Sophie has been gone for seven whole days now. I miss her so much! [Candle]"
Sophie: "..."
"I'm staying up all night to keep vigil for Sophie. Maybe she'll come to me in a dream to share her unfulfilled wishes! Such a talent taken too soon, she must have left so much undone! Let me be the one to fulfill her dreams on Earth!"
Sophie: "..."
Massaging her temples, she finally had enough and decided to respond. She clicked on one of the comments and typed, "I'm not dead, and I won't be visiting you in your dreams, kiddo. Have you finished your holiday homework? School's about to start."
As soon as Sophie hit send, replies started flooding in, bombarding Beck's phone.
"Shame on you! Sophie sacrificed herself for the country, and on her seventh day, you dare speak such disrespect? Aren't you scared her spirit will come after you?"
"People will say anything for a bit of attention these days!"
"Ladies, I checked this guy's Twitter, and he's a total creep! All likes and retweets of pretty girls and dirty jokes! No wonder he spouts such nonsense. Oh, Sophie, if you're watching, take this guy away!"
Sophie shook her head at the comments, truly at a loss for words.
Of all things, she'd experienced online harassment just because she was still alive.
With the mood set, should she "die" just to make them happy?
"Ms. Sophie, they're cursing me!"
Beck looked on, feeling his heart twist with anxiety.
It was his Twitter, after all!
He hoped he wouldn't get banned over this.
Moss, standing nearby, gave him a sidelong glance, "Cursing you?"
His tone was unreadable. "Do you find those pictures and jokes entertaining?"
Beck: "..."
"If you're really that bored, how about a little sparring match to see if your skills have improved?"
Beck wisely kept his mouth shut.
When it came to physical strength, he was no match for Moss!
Usually, Moss would go easy on him.
But not when he was upset.
One move and Beck would be flat on his back, begging for mercy.
Sophie tossed Beck's phone back to him and picked up her own.
The online chatter was getting ridiculous. If she let it continue, she'd feel guilty for not being dead.
Logging onto Twitter, she saw numerous private messages asking if she was doing okay in the afterlife and if she needed money, claiming they had burned lots of paper money for her.
Sophie sighed in disbelief.
