Flora couldn't help but steal a few more glances at him after he spoke. He had the same last name, Mo...
Did he say she reminded him of his sister?
Could her mom be connected to him somehow?
Flora mulled it over and decided to ask, testing the waters, "So, where's your sister now?"
Mason let out a gentle sigh, the sparkle in his eyes dimming with a hint of sadness.
Though he was past forty, he looked surprisingly young, like he was just in his early thirties—handsome and charming. Just the way he furrowed his brow was enough to make hearts flutter.
"My sister... let's not go there. Although, she does have a kid about your age. Maybe you two will cross paths someday."
Hearing this, Flora's lips thinned, and her heart sank.
Her parents only had her.
The sister Mason mentioned had a child.
That ruled out her mom.
Flora felt a pang of disappointment as her hopes fizzled.
But then again, finding her might not be so simple.
"The cake I brought for my niece is getting cold! I gotta dash! She'll be mad if I don't!"
Mason felt the cake in his pocket cooling and quickly bundled it up, cutting the conversation short as he hurried off, wrapping it in his jacket.
He needed to get back fast!
He couldn't let his brother steal the spotlight!
After all, Tara seemed to favor his brother!
He was determined to win Tara over!
Heh, heh, heh!
...
Flora and her friends kept moving towards the Medical Hall.
Flora was still a bit down about her mom.
"Man, I'm so jealous of Tara. She's got it all—a great family, tons of talent, and the entire Roth family treats her like a princess."
