He wasn't trying to outdo Flora to show off or anything. He was just curious to see if she really knew ancient martial arts. Something in his gut said she did.
"Can you believe it? Captain Shadow's actually gonna spar with her in ancient martial arts?" someone whispered.
"Do you think she knows ancient martial arts? What if she doesn't, and Captain Shadow accidentally injures her?" another worriedly chimed in. They couldn't stand the thought of her getting hurt!
"You're overthinking it. Haven't you noticed the boss isn't even flinching? I reckon she's got some skills, maybe even pretty decent ones!" another added with a knowing nod.
Everyone was buzzing with speculation, eyes glued to Flora and Shadow on the field.
...
Meanwhile, back in the main hall, the executives were knee-deep in work. With a laid-back boss, they had to juggle a lot themselves.
"Big news! Big news!" someone shouted, bursting in all out of breath.
The executives shot him a look. "What's all the fuss about? Calm down and spill it!"
"The training field!" the guard gasped, sweat dripping down his face. "Something's up over there! The lady, she's—"
"What happened? Did she cause a scene?" one of the execs asked, not hiding their frustration.
They'd been saying it all along—Connor shouldn't have brought a woman to the training field. What if she interrupted the training? Or worse, got hurt? If that happened, the boss would be upset, and they'd all have to deal with the fallout.
"No, no!" the guard shook his head vigorously. "She's in a shooting competition with Captain Rory and sparring in ancient martial arts with Captain Shadow! She's—"
Before he could finish, the executives slammed their hands down and stood up in a huff.
