"Where are Jacob and Carly?"

Hearing their names, Hawthorn's face froze, and Kenneth slammed the documents on the desk with a loud thud. The noise echoed, making Hawthorn's pulse race.

"Why are you deliberately targeting them?" Kenneth frowned, clearly irritated. "The training field isn't that big. Do you think no one notices?"

He had been the one to keep things under control.

"You're on my team, and targeting trainees like that is unacceptable. If you don't want to be an instructor, you don't have to be."

Seeing Kenneth genuinely angry, Hawthorn felt a wave of panic. "Captain, I was just following orders..."

"Whose orders?"

"It was..." Hawthorn hesitated, then blurted out, "It was your sister-in-law! She told me to go after Jacob and Carly..."

"Assessments for heirs of influential families are serious business; you can't just act out of spite," Kenneth said, still upset but mindful of Sydney. He sighed, "Tomorrow is open day. Make sure Jacob and Carly don't run into anyone from the Gilbert family."

Kenneth feared they might complain.
