"I knew it, you're incredible, my husband..." He still seemed a bit uneasy.
"Relax, he's alright, nothing serious. The bullet didn't pierce his chest. We pulled him back from the brink. He just needs some good rest now."
The man finally smiled, trailing behind the doctor and nurses as they wheeled Adam into the hospital room.
Fiona's gaze settled on Jackson.
Dressed in a sleek black silk shirt and trousers, he stood tall and elegant, someone who could catch anyone's eye with just one look.
Fiona sighed, he was ridiculously handsome!
What could be better at the end of a long day than catching sight of the talented and handsome guy of your dreams?
Jackson approached her with long strides, a faint smile playing at his lips.
He stopped in front of her.
Fiona looked up at him, beaming with the pride of a kid who aced a test and was ready to cash in on some well-deserved praise.
"See? I told you, you wouldn't be disappointed."
Jackson raised an eyebrow, "Awesome, what reward do you want?"
Fiona was about to answer when her stomach let out a loud growl.
She touched her belly, a bit embarrassed, "Can we grab some food first? I'm starving, big brother."
The way she called him "big brother" made his heart flutter, like a feather gently brushing against it, leaving a ticklish feeling.
He couldn't resist patting Fiona's head, which only made her a bit grumpy.
A lock of hair slipped down beside her ear, making her look even more endearing and vulnerable.
"Why do you keep patting my head? I'm not a kitten or a puppy."
Hearing her slightly annoyed tone, Jackson's lips twitched with amusement.
Holding back a compliment about her cuteness, he simply said, "Let's go."
Then he watched as Fiona took a few quick steps to catch up with him.
