"Alright then, you're crashing at my place tonight."
...
When they pulled up to the Woods' house, Fiona was as chill as could be, acting like she owned the joint.
Even though she tagged along with Jackson, she wasn't planning on anything serious happening. Sure, she was a sucker for a handsome face and had been eyeing Jackson for ages, but she never jumped into anything without a game plan.
She wanted him to be the one who couldn't resist making the first move — that would be way more entertaining.
As soon as they got home, Jackson seemed ready to vanish upstairs, like he had a mountain of work waiting for him.
Fiona bit her lip, puzzled by his cool demeanor.
She'd practically thrown herself at him, and he was acting like he couldn't care less?
That thought made her second-guess herself.
Was she not as charming as she thought? Or was it... something else about him?
"What’s on your mind? You seem a million miles away," Jackson teased, giving her a playful tap on the head, his voice rich with amusement.
Fiona beamed at him, moving in a little closer, tugging on his sleeve like a child seeking attention.
"Where am I crashing tonight?" she asked, her voice sweet and teasing, like a kitten's purr, making Jackson's heart do a little flip.
He kept his cool, chuckling, "Where do you wanna sleep? My room, perhaps?"
Instead of freaking out, Fiona leaned in even closer, their breaths mingling. She could catch a whiff of his woody cologne, which was pretty intoxicating.
"Since you don’t mind, I’ll go with your suggestion," she replied smoothly.
Jackson's eyes darkened, something stirring behind them as he swallowed hard, forcing down the unexpected emotions bubbling up.
He kept reminding himself: She's just a young girl, don't be a beast!
