The hefty guy was trembling, clearly hesitant to make a move, a stark contrast to his earlier bravado. Fiona noticed his reluctance and chuckled softly.
Tilting her head slightly, she casually remarked, "Can't do it? Well, in that case, you'll have to take the heat for her."
After she spoke, she gently patted the tiger on the head, while the snake nearby coiled, ready for action. The plump man gulped audibly, but mustered the courage to stand.
Rosa realized she had crossed someone powerful, and as she pushed herself up, her nails nearly snapped from the effort. Just as she was about to put up a fight, the once-peaceful sky erupted with a sudden roar.
Fiona caught a whiff of gasoline, and before she could fully grasp what was happening, a helicopter landed right in front of them. Squinting, she saw Jackson, clad in a sharp black suit, his demeanor icy as he approached.
Trailing behind him was an anxious-looking Adam. Jackson, tall and full of purpose, visibly relaxed when his eyes landed on Fiona, his deep gaze brimming with concern.
As soon as Fiona recognized him, her heart skipped a beat, and her lips formed a small pout, her almond eyes quickly filling with tears of innocence. Her cheeks, smudged with dust from the earlier tussle, only added to her vulnerable, slightly disheveled appearance.
In a voice tinged with grievance, she lamented, "What took you so long? You wouldn't believe how they picked on me. Look at them, all big and brawny. How was I supposed to stand a chance?"
Like a stray kitten finally finding its owner, she inched closer to Jackson. From the moment he stepped off the helicopter, Jackson had wanted to scoop her up. Seeing her so wronged, he didn't hesitate, wrapping her in his arms.
