"Why?"
His voice was a bit rough, not the clear tone you'd expect from someone his age.
Why were they taking him away?
"Hey there, I'm Fiona." She gave him a friendly smile. "I'm a friend of your brother's."
A friend of his brother...
That stung Tyler deep.
A friend of his brother.
"Oh! So you're pals with a murderer, huh?"
The other kids finally pieced it together and sneered.
They thought she was someone important, but she was just friends with Tyler's murderer brother!
"Shut up!"
The headmaster nearly jumped out of his skin, quickly reprimanding them.
Did these clueless kids have any idea what they were saying?
Was this someone they could just badmouth?
"Tyler, your brother and us, we're tight. He specifically asked us to look out for you," Mikey said, trying his best to sound gentle. "Go pack your stuff and come with us."
Tyler stared back at them, not saying a word.
The sky was gloomy and overcast, making him look even more lifeless.
He was at the age where he should be full of life, yet his eyes seemed as weary as those of an old man, carrying a heavy air of despair.
"Tyler, I'm talking to you, answer me already."
Mr. Garcia was getting impatient, urging him on.
He was more anxious than Tyler.
But Tyler just stood there, injured and all, standing tall.
"I don't want to."
He finally spoke, coldly throwing out those three words. After that, he didn't care about anyone's reaction and just walked away.
