They were having a field day mocking the Reyes family’s convoy, dragging it through the mud with their jabs.
"I used to think your racing skills were just lacking, but now it seems it's your brains that are a bit off. Offending Riley over some girl you barely know..."
Luke chuckled, and with his chubby face and big ears, he looked as sleazy as ever.
"Riley's a top coach at the TM Club. You kicked him out, and you think you’ll find another decent coach on Lone Island after that?"
"Being a senior coach at the TM Club is quite something, but—" Flora suddenly let out a laugh, her eyelids lifting slightly as she fixed her gaze on Riley. Her dark eyes were captivating, like she could see right into his soul: "Are you, though?"
Riley’s heart did a little flip, and the smirk on his face vanished, replaced with visible panic.
"What do you mean by that?" he blurted, trying to sound tough but failing miserably.
Why would Flora say something like that out of the blue? Did she know something? No way! He had kept it under wraps so well, nobody could possibly know. Especially not Flora!
"What’s got you all jittery?" Flora teased, her eyes locked on his, a playful smile tugging at her lips.
Even Luke noticed Riley’s unease, scratching his head and turning to him, confused: "Riley, what's up with you?"
Dr. Fox was at a loss, sweat breaking out under Flora’s piercing gaze.
"So, how much did it cost you to bring him to the Jones family?"
Suddenly, Flora shifted the conversation, her eyes moving from Riley to Luke.
Dr. Fox felt a weight lift off his chest.
Flora knew that breaking the contract with the Reyes family came with a hefty penalty.
