Sadie startled him so much that he didn’t even dare to move, his forehead was covered in layer after layer of sweat.
He was a man, to be more specific he was a very able bodied man who was at the prime of his life… so when she realised this she started to feel that she was in a very dangerous situation at the moment.
Libby once said that men were a species who thought using the lower part of their bodies and once they were overwhelmed by their lust, as long as the person in front of them was a living and breathing female, then they would go and have sex with them.
She had never experienced this, since before the most intimate that she had gotten with Otto was a kiss on the forehead or the cheek. Other than that she had never had a proper kiss before.
As she thought about, she imagined that she wouldn’t be able to resist enjoying the kiss.
Her scar spread from the corner of her eye to the cheekbone, and the newly formed skin was uneven which made people feel quite uncomfortable to look at.
Therefore she was sure that Julian had other reasons for why he wanted to marry her. As she thought about this, Sadie settled down and had signed the agreement, and felt this was the right thing to do.
It was her that made the decision to give up on Otto, so she knew she had to continue on and not think about this anymore. Therefore she closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep.
Julian lowered his eyes and saw clearly the left side of her face due to the faint light that came through the window. He then creased his eyebrows together, closed his eyes and also fell asleep.
It was six thirty when the alarm clock woke them up.
He lay still, squinted his eyes and saw Sadie turn off the alarm clock. He then stretched out his hand in front of his eyes as if to be sure of something, and then just continued to pretend to be asleep.
"So you’re still not awake…” Sadie snorted, gently lifted the quilt, slid off the other side of the bed and got up to get dressed.
Julian opened his eyes only a small fraction so he could have a good view of the sight in front of him, and as he did the corners of his mouth raised slightly.
Sadie really was very careless, however when she was younger and changed her clothes she didn’t hide away from him either. In fact whenever she was ill, he would change her clothes for her.
Sadie had her back to the bed as she got changed. She then took a quick glance back, opened the door and tip toed out to go wash her face.
Julian couldn’t sleep anymore so he picked up his phone, looked at the monitoring app and saw that she had gone to the gym on the third floor to exercise and that she had tied up her hair into a ponytail, her eyes focused on what she was doing.
Because her hair was put up away from her face, the scar on her face became very obvious. The camera lens also just happened to show her left side so he could see it very clearly.
It seemed that this scar was not from a fire but from being burnt by something. As he thought about her being disfigured by someone, he couldn’t keep looking at her anymore, and when he thought about how in the future if something like this happened, a sharp look flashed across his eyes.
After he closed the monitoring screen, Julian then called Khalid’s number. When the call connected he asked if there were any words that needed to be conveyed to him from the Chambers family.
“I haven’t heard anything; however Mr Cayden mentioned that you should come over during the Double Ninth Festival.” Khalid’s voice made it seem as if he had just woken up.
Go back during the Double Ninth Festival? Julian pursed his lips, answered with an ‘I got it’ and then hung up the call.
…
Sadie tried some of the other equipment in the gym, but after she felt she didn’t really suit this equipment, she returned back to the treadmill and continued on jogging at a slow pace.
The symptoms of her cold seemed to have improved a bit. After sweating it seemed her body loosened up slightly, it was now just her nose was still a bit blocked and her throat was still slightly uncomfortable.
Once she returned back she noticed that Julian had already left. On the bedside table there was a black card and underneath it was a note with a very flamboyant writing style.
She glanced at the content, crumpled the note into a ball and then threw it into the trash can.
After she took her pills she took a quick shower. She then put on some rather plain clothes, put her bag onto her back and slowly walked down the stairs.
