Chapter 195
The drive home is silent. I wait, and he doesn’t speak. Giving in, I turn and look towards him.
“Come on Calix, your brain must be hurting right now holding it all in.” I laugh slightly waiting.
“Holding what in?” He turns and looks at me confused.
“You’re playing dumb? I mean you thinking of ways to tell me I can’t fuck Demitri, and not to do it. How it is wrong, and not allowed.” I watch him turn to see me briefly before his eyes go back to the road.
“That is yours and Demitri’s choice.”
“Eh?” I look at him confused. “That’s bullshit.” I laugh slightly and he nods.
“Maybe it is puddin, or maybe it isn’t. You are both grown–ass adults and can choose to make your own mistakes.”
Why is he acting weird? I stay staring at him, waiting for him to decide. to talk, to be honest, and tell me it is wrong but he doesn’t. Getting out. we walk in, and Calix walks off claiming he needs to make a call.
Demitri and Marcello look at me confused.
“Don’t look at me. I was ready for the whole. ‘You can’t fuck Demitri, it’s wrong, it’s not allowed, and not part of the rules.‘ I even brought it up.” I laugh slightly.
“And?” Demitri asks.

“And he didn’t, he said it is our choice. Who broke him?” I laugh and can see they don’t believe me. “Honestly, go ask. He said we’re old enough to decide to make our own mistakes. He’s acting weird.” I sit down and watch as Demitri walks off to where Calix disappeared.
“Cal should have told you.” Marcello moves and sits opposite me.
“Told me what?” What did I miss?
“Look, believe me, he wants to tell you two it is wrong. You stopped Demitri tonight before we joined you, Cal said you and Demitri would sleep together, and while he wants to say it is wrong, and tell you not to, you’re good for Demitri.”
“So he did want to he was just behaving in case it hurt Demitri?” I watch as he nods. “Well, Calix doesn’t need to worry. I wouldn’t sleep with Demitri, not tonight. It would feel like I took advantage of him not being in the right mindset.”
He looks at me shocked.
“But, he could change his mind.” He stares at me.
“I know there is a chance tomorrow he wakes and thinks why the hell did I agree to sleep with her? That he refuses me, I’m fine with it. That would just be more proof he didn’t want me, Marcello, his head was just a mess. Anyway, I’m getting some sleep, I’m shopping tomorrow.” I walk out, going to my room I get showered, my eyes on the dress. I didn’t even notice that it had blood on it.
Lying in bed I think back to tonight, I remember no one even seemed phased that Demitri was covered in blood. I guess it showed people won’t speak regardless of what they do.
Waking I get ready, and walking out Troy looks at me.

“They said breakfast is there and to cat.” Laughing I nod, and sitting I eat. It feels weird, they are always there, yet now they’re not.
“Where did they go?” I look to Troy.
“Said they had business to sort and would see you when you get back.” He will know what business they need to sort, but no doubt just won’t tell me. Walking out he follows.
“Okay, so we have a list of shops, Calix said they are a starting point and if anything was missing you can go to others but he doubts you will need to.”
I nod to his words and spend the morning shopping. It feels strange, I barely buy anything. I don’t feel comfortable buying myself things.
Walking around the book shop I look through books. Troy stays standing by the door, no doubt because the shop is small and he can see me regardless of where I am. I stand reading the back of a book.
I don’t typically read, but I need to. It will help, there are still so many words I have no idea how to spell. Reading will help me learn.
“Sorry miss, can I just get that book.” A guy stands next to me pointing to a book in the corner. I step back giving him space, watching as he picks up the book. Standing he scans it and puts it back.
“New here?” He looks at me, as he gets another book and scans it. I’m guessing he works here.
“Could say that.” I nod and place the book down, I struggle to read the back from boredom so I doubt I will read the book.
“Need suggestions? I’m happy to help.” He smiles at me.
“Honestly I doubt anyone could help, I don’t even know what I’m

looking for.” I laugh, because I don’t.
“Okay, well, let’s start with genres. Horror, thriller, romance, smut, sci- fi, I’m sure you know the rest.” He smiles and I shake my head, I don’t, that’s another issue. This is the first bookstore I have been to, the books. before were for learning, not stories.
“Okay, how about telling me some books you have read and if you enjoyed them?” He looks at me waiting.
“Yeah, see I haven’t read stories. I read books that are to help you learn. but never read purely for pleasure.”
“Okay, I have a few suggestions, follow me.” He walks through and I follow, not missing Troy’s eyes on me, while he has his phone in his hand.
“Here, so, these are small books. Each one has short stories in, between one thousand and ten thousand words each story. Based on a specific genre.” I watch as he picks up three and holds them out.
“Thank you.” Maybe I am best with short stories first until I know which genres I enjoy reading.
“No problem, anything else you need?” He looks at me waiting and I shake my head.
Standing I pay, watching as he places them in a bag.
“I’m Alex by the way.” He holds out his hand.
