Seeing Him
I wake before Jasper, getting up and ready I walk out and cook breakfast, just as I am finishing he walks out and looks at me confused.
“You should be resting baby girl.”
“I’m pregnant, not dying.” I can cook.
“I didn’t mean because you’re pregnant, I meant after all the stress. Let‘ s eat then leave.” He smiles not arguing with me, sitting we eat, and the room is silent. We barely talk and I don’t know if it’s because we’re considering today or if the baby is on our minds, or maybe he is considering if this was wrong and he shouldn’t have let me back in?
I wouldn’t blame him. We leave and stay quiet all the way there, and I can tell he has questions but isn’t asking, no doubt waiting until after we have been here. The closer we get the more I feel guilty, knowing my dad is in there because of me.
Every scenario goes around in my mind as I consider other ways I could have handled things to prevent this from happening. Hours later we stop and I look at the building, and panic sets in. My dad is free, and wild like me, and this place isn’t that at all. I look to Jasper and he smiles.
“Don’t worry, he’s fine.” He g
he’s fine.” He gets out and we walk in together, and as he said they do search me. I watch as they inspect the small scan pictures. like we would even try and use them as a way to smuggle something in. I want to laugh but don’t.
We walk through and sit down, and I look around the room. I feel
isolated, just from this room so how does my dad feel?
“Baby girl, remember no touching, stay sat.” I nod at his words and watch as the prisoners walk in, I watch my dad and see him smiling, which is a relief. He walks over and sits looking between us.
“This is the only time princess, this isn’t a place for you.”
“But what if you don’t get out.” He can’t expect me never to come.
“Baby girl, stop worrying.” Jasper hugs me, and I shake my head.
“Don’t worry about if I don’t get out princess, if that happens then we will worry about it. How did the scan go?” He looks at me and I point to the picture on the table watching him pick it up.
“Everything is fine. Do you want to tell him if it’s a boy or girl baby girl?” Jasper looks at me.
“It’s a girl daddy.” I smile at my dad and he grins.
Ther
“You have your work cut out for you, she will be wild.” He laughs looking at me.
“I was thinking that this morning.” Jasper laughs and holds my hand. but I pull away.
“Was everything else okay?” My dad looks at us and I nod. I don’t know what to say, I feel guilty right now and like this is my fault. He talks to Jasper, for a while.
“Jasper, give us a few minutes please.” My dad looks at him and he walks ofl. “Princess, what are you doing?” I look at him confused. “Don’t do that! You are distancing yourself, not just from me but him as well, don’t do that!”

“I’m not daddy.
His head tilts and he looks at me disapproving. “You are, so why? He is here princess, giving you everything he said he would never give. Don’t push him out and hurt him. Otherwise me being in here is useless.” I stare at him shocked. “Come on princess, I walked in and said I was there to stop them looking at Jasper, I did that so you could be together but if you push him out then what was all this for? Nothing.” His voice is slightly louder and I nod.
“I’m trying.”
He laughs slightly. “No you’re not princess. You’re protecting yourself, why?”
“Because I thought I just had Joel to worry about, I forgot about others who will come searching for me now that Joel is dead. Everyone is safer if I’m gone.” I feel myself panic and he stares at me shocked.
“Who else? Princess what don’t I know?” I thought Sam would have spoken to him, then again Sam doesn’t know, not even Jasper does. “Princess, please, I will need to leave soon. Don’t leave me walking back in there worrying.” He waves Jasper over and I stare shocked. “Princess, he needs to know.”
“He doesn’t.” He will shout at me, when I tell them everything Jasper will shout. He sits down and my dad looks at me waiting.
“What?” Jasper looks between us confused.
“Princess please, I don’t want to go back through there and not know and be worrying constantly.”
I nod slightly, I can’t stay quiet and have him worrying about me, he

“I was worried Joel would come back.”
“He’s dead.” Jasper looks at me and I roll my eyes.
“I know. I thought I was safe then I realised I’m not. Everyone would be safer if I left once I have the baby.”
“No we wouldn’t be, because I would be searching for you. Is this why you suddenly went distant?” Jasper looks at me.
“Who?” My dad asks.
“Jake and Oliver. Joel made it known when he was done with me I was Jake’s and Oliver’s. They will know Joel is dead and theres no way they won’t come looking for me. See, I should leave.” I look at my dad.
“Princess don’t do that, don’t dump your baby and run.” He looks at me
hurt.
“Even if me doing it keeps the baby safe?” I look at him waiting.
“You are safe, the baby is safe. No one is coming for you, and if they did do you really think they would get close? You know the truth now princess, don’t do to him and your daughter what your mother did! Do you know how long I spent searching for her? Trying to find out if she was alive? Still now I wonder if she is okay, don’t do that to him.” He points to Jasper and I nod.
“Look, if needed, we can have some of the club members watching outside. If anyone shows up we will know before they even get in the house, baby girl.” Jasper looks at me,
“No because they have their own lives.” I hear them call time and look.

“Princess, I want you to promise me something.”
I nod quickly. “Anything.”
