Walking into the store my eyes widen, this is going to take forever. 

“I feel like we needed the full nine months baby girl.” I laugh at his words and nod, we should have though, that’s the worst part. I didn’t get to enjoy the pregnancy a single bit as Joel was always watching. 

“Hey! No sadness today baby girl.” He looks at me and wraps his arms around my body. 

“I was just thinking I never got to enjoy being pregnant daddy.” 

“Maybe not baby girl, but you have four weeks, so make the most of it.” Kissing me he steps back and we begin shopping. I feel lost in the place, it’s not like there is one or two of each thing, no there’s loads. I stand looking at the pushchairs and feel confused. 3 wheels and four wheels, yet each have numerous ones, some look practically identical and I can’t figure out what the difference is other than the colour and 

name. 

“Can I help?” A woman stands next to us and smiles.

Do you want one from birth until they can walk? Do you want one that folds small and is compact to help with smaller cars? You then also need to consider the carseat side. I stand and stare at her and Jasper laughs. 

“We won’t use it much. I don’t know about the carseat. Baby girl, you need to consider your dad, if things go well, how often will you let him take her out?”

“Your dad would get a car though if he knew he could take her out baby girl.” He’s right. 

“Let’s make it easy daddy. Carseat for our car, one for my dads and a pram agree?” Screw figuring out if it’s more helpful having a pushchair with a car seat. 

“Okay, so you don’t want one with a car seat. What about seat types? Do you want one where the seat is changeable based on the age of the baby? You can get ones like this with a crib style almost, then go to at seat later?” She points to a pushchair and I stand even more confused. 

“I think daddy we should have looked online and at least narrowed this down, shall we skip this for today?” He laughs and nods. 

“You don’t have long left though, so it appears you keep skipping it?” She laughs and I stand shocked. 

“I think we can do it ourselves, thank you.” Jasper looks at her annoyed. Well, now I feel worse. I was just saying I didn’t feel I had enough time to enjoy this pregnancy. 

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.” 

“Maybe not, but to assume was wrong. She could have not wanted to

“Just forget it daddy.” I pull him towards the clothes.

“And you daddy.” I saw his face, his anger at her may have covered it but I saw. 

“I just keep thinking of how different it might have been if I hadn’t just ran that day when you said it ‘wasn’t like that‘ or if I had forced Joel to let me see you even if you were refusing.” His hand settles on my stomach. 

“At least you avoided eight months of mood swings daddy.” I smile and he chuckles. 

“I guess that’s a good thing baby girl. Come on, let’s carry on.” We walk around and buy clothes and other items, deciding to look online for a cot and pushchair and order them online. Saves any more instances like today. Loading the car he begins driving and it still feels weird. 

I miss the bike, but I know if I even try ask him he will call me crazy and refuse and I can’t blame him. I know people have babies early all the time, so his panic if I went into labor on the back of the bike would be epically funny.

“Just thinking I miss the bike, but that I know you would refuse, then I imagined your face when I go into labour if we were on the bike.”

“Sun? How often did you get sun?” He looks at me and I groan, Jasper nudges me. 

“I didn’t, for months I didn’t leave the apartment, windows were boarded in most rooms, if not curtains were drawn. After so many months then yes but only walking to the car and back.” 

“Okay, so we’re going to have to give you a cocktail of vitamins and such. Once your blood tests come back then we know what to stop or increase. I’ve put a referral through for a scan but you will be lucky to get one now. The notes and images from the private one however shows no issues that is good.” 

He continues to talk about crap and I let Jasper listen as my mind switches off. I’m tired now, and I blame Jasper, I don’t know why yet, but I will think of something just to be a brat. We’re quiet all the way back, and walk in together, I go to walk off but his hand reaches out to stop me. 

“You’re eating baby girl. You can have a quick nap, but you’re eating.” 

I roll my eyes and he stares at me shocked. “Okay, Daddy.” Kissing his cheek I walk to the sofa and sit, my eyes fixed on my phone. I can’t help but wonder where my mum is, and if my dad ever really made progress in finding her? 

“Water baby girl.” He holds out the glass to me and I take it, watching him go back to cooking. Deciding to be a brat I walk through, my hand on the fridge and he stops me. “I’m cooking!” 

“Can I get some fruit for my water?” His head tilts and I give a cheeky. smile watching him nod. He turns back to cook, and I open the fridge, 

dropping a couple of strawberries into the glass, I stand and eat one. Finishing the first I begin eating a second and the fridge closes. 

“Really baby girl?” He looks at me amused, and I shrug. “What is your aim from being a brat?” 

“Well, daddy, I think if you’re having to ask, maybe you have lost your touch and I should call you master puppy?” He stares at me shocked as I bite against my lip.
