"Allie, didn't I tell you? Lillian is nothing but trouble. Do you really believe she didn't know Shawn was your ex?"
"I know she did it on purpose. I have a hunch. Lillian and Shawn have been plotting to break Joshua and me up. Since they're so keen on stirring things up, I'll play along and see who ends up more frustrated."
Sabrina gave Allison a thumbs-up. "Right on, you're spot on, girl. I've got your back!"
Brian leaned in, a smirk on his face. "Allie, was that guy really your ex?"
Just as Allison was about to reply, Brian suddenly yelped and clutched his head in pain.
Joshua's calm voice came from behind him. "You shouldn't be sticking your nose into other people's business."
Brian gave him a wounded glare. "Why'd you flick me? That hurt! I was just looking out for Allie."
"You’ve got some free time, huh?" Sabrina said, shoving a skewer of fresh lamb and another of chicken wings into Brian's hands. "Go grill these."
Joshua wrapped his arms around Allison from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Allie."
Allison let him hold her as she continued grilling the meat. "These skewers will be ready soon."
"Alright." Joshua's breath surrounded Allison.
He kissed her neck, and gently nibbled her earlobe, his warm breath making Allison giggle.
When Joshua tried to nibble her ear again, Allison laughed and dodged. "Stop it, everyone's watching."
Joshua's voice was low and playful. "Who cares? Let them see how sweet we are."
