Joshua had no way to reach him, and waiting around was driving him up the wall.

The thought of Allison being in danger had his vision going dark and his heart pounding like a drum. Breathing felt like a chore. But he forced himself to stay cool, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number. "I need to meet Wesley," he said, urgency lacing his voice.

As soon as he hung up, his phone buzzed with an unknown number. His gut told him it was Chris, and he picked up on the first ring.

Joshua's temper flared. "If you've got a beef, it's with me. Leave Allie out of it!"

A soft laugh came from Chris. "Don't worry, she's here because of you."

"Where are you?" Joshua shot back, urgency in every word.

Chris rattled off an address and added, "Tomorrow morning at eight. Come solo. If you even think about calling the cops, she’ll vanish without a trace."
