Allison's words left Kate with an uneasy feeling that she just couldn't shake off. After leaving the law firm, she reached out to her circle of friends for the scoop and found out that the Reynolds Group was indeed in hot water. Rumor had it that the major shareholder had already cashed out, leaving the Reynolds Group back in Shawn's hands, but it was a total mess now. Kate frowned, troubled by the news.
It all made sense now—why Shawn seemed so overwhelmed lately. Every time she saw him, he looked like he hadn't slept in days. Could the Reynolds Group survive this storm? If the Reynolds family went under, marrying Shawn would be like diving headfirst into a disaster. She decided she needed to hold off and see how things played out. If the Reynolds Group was really about to crash and burn, bringing a child into this mess seemed pointless.

On Wednesday evening, Allison decided to hit up an auction. As soon as she arrived, she was surprised to spot Joshua there. Normally, he'd let his assistant handle the bidding for anything he wanted, so his presence was unexpected. Joshua, dressed sharply in a black shirt and trousers, exuded a cool confidence that drew people to him like moths to a flame.
Joshua was always the star of the show, no matter where he went. Allison gave him a quick glance and then looked away, not wanting to get caught up. But Joshua spotted her and wasted no time making his way through the crowd to her side.
"Hey, Allie," Joshua greeted her warmly, "Are you here for the auction too?" He was actually there because a few of the exquisite jewelry pieces had caught his eye, and he wanted to win them for Allison personally.
Watson had the same plan in mind. As Watson came over to say hello, Joshua’s expression turned chilly. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
Watson grinned, "Looks like fate’s playing tricks on us."
Allison nodded, "You two catch up, I’ll head inside."
Watson quickly chimed in, "I'll come with you."
Joshua let out a small snort but followed Allison into the main auction hall anyway.
