After Joshua finished speaking, Javier finally noticed that Joshua was injured too. He was wearing a black shirt, and the bloodstains blended in, making them hard to spot at first. The blood had trickled down onto his hand, the bright red standing out sharply against his pale skin, creating a striking contrast.
Joy noticed it too. She didn’t quite grasp the details about "Chris" or "American forces," but she understood that the attackers weren't ordinary people. It made sense now why they had guns, even though firearms were banned in their country.
"Mr. Fisher, you're hurt! You should really see a doctor," Joy said, startled at the sight of Joshua's bloody hands.
Joshua shook his head. "I'm staying here with Allie."
"Joshua," Javier's eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Joshua, each word dripping with bitterness, "If anything happens to my Allie..." The words caught in his throat, unable to finish, "If she doesn’t make it..."
Javier paused, his jaw clenched as he continued, "I'll do whatever it takes, even if it costs me everything, to make your family pay!"
"Chris has already been taken in by the police," Joshua murmured, his eyes downcast. "This time, he’s really not getting away."
