Chapter 67 

As the thug lunged with his knife, Elliott, acting on pure instinct, grabbed the nearest person to shield herself. Joy was unfortunately caught in Elliott’s panic. She went as white as a ghost, trembling like a leaf with tears streaming down her face in sheer terror. 

The thug, ruthless and relentless, drove the dagger toward Joy. She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the inevitable. But the expected pain never came. Instead, a chorus of gasps filled the air. 

When Joy dared to open her eyes, she was stunned into silence. There was Allison, locked in a fierce struggle with the thug, using nothing but her bare hands. 

The thug, clearly out of control, swung the knife wildly, but Allison was nimble, weaving around the deadly strikes. Even so, her arm caught a nasty cut, and blood swiftly stained her white blouse. 

“You’re asking for it!” the thug yelled, barreling forward with the knife once more. 

Allison, gritting her teeth against the pain, sidestepped the blade and, with a swift twist, snapped the thug’s wrist. 

The crack of bone and the thug’s scream rang out simultaneously. He recoiled, dropping the knife, and Allison kicked it far out of reach. One quick–thinking colleague scooped it up. 

Without the knife, the thug was out of his league against Allison. She unleashed a flurry of punches, making him howl, then delivered a powerful kick to his head. Dazed and wobbling, he barely had time to recover before Allison finished him off with a barrage of kicks and a shoulder throw, slamming him to the ground. 

The crowd erupted in a mix of shock and admiration. Who would’ve thought that the seemingly quiet Allison could fight with such ferocity? 

When the thug was finally subdued, the paramedics and police arrived on the scene. As the thug was taken away, Brody, who lay in a pool of his own blood, was also whisked off for medical attention. 

Only then did the others find the courage to approach Allison. Witnessing their colleague’s assault left the law firm’s staff shaken, trading relief for fear and a sense of dread lingering in the air. 

Joy, still tear–streaked and trembling, managed to stammer out, “Ms. Allison, I… I thought I was going to die… It was terrifying. If you hadn’t stepped in, I don’t know what would’ve happened. Thank you, Ms. Allison.” 

Nicole, her face drained of color, admitted, “I’ve never experienced anything like this. Being in this profession is more dangerous than I thought.” 

Elliott, fear still etched on her face, asked, “Nicole, do you think Brody… will he make it?” 

Nicole replied with a steely calm, “Brody will be alright.” 

The male colleagues, now recovering from their initial panic, began showering Allison with praise. “Allison, who knew you had those moves? You were amazing!” 

“Yes, yes, Allison, thank you for saving us all.” 

“Ms. Allison, I’ve clearly underestimated you. I thought you were just quiet and reserved.” 

Allison remained silent in the face of their compliments, her expression unfazed. She marched over to Elliott, her demeanor stern. “Elliott, did you seriously use Joy as a human shield?” 

Feeling guilty, Elliott couldn’t meet Allison’s gaze and stammered, “I… I was just trying to save myself…”
