Allison’s eyes were locked onto Elliott, intense enough to burn holes through her. 

“Elliott, you should be thankful I was around today. If I hadn’t stepped in, and Joy had ended up dead because of that thug, you’d be looking at murder charges.” 

Elliott bit his lip, staying silent, his face as pale as a ghost. 

Just then, Joy chimed in, concerned, “Ms. Allison, your wound is still bleeding. You really should get to a hospital and get that sorted out.” 

Allison had gotten hurt too. Though it wasn’t life–threatening, it had bled a lot, soaking her entire left sleeve in red. 

Without another word to Elliott, Allison turned on her heel and headed to the hospital. 

After getting patched up and grabbing her prescriptions, Allison bumped into Kate. 

Kate looked anything but friendly. “Allison? What are you doing here?” 

Allison was taken aback to see Kate. She hadn’t expected Kate followed Shawn to Oak Lake. But then again, Shawn never went anywhere without Kate. Of course, he’d bring her along rather than leave her back in Havenbrook. 

Not in the mood for a chat, Allison walked right past her. 

Kate glared daggers at Allison as she walked away. “Allison, you just can’t stay away, can you?” 

Shawn crossed her mind. 

They hadn’t even finished their trip in Arizona when Shawn suddenly booked flights to Oak Lake. Was it because of Allison? And was his injury last night tied to Allison too? 

With these thoughts swirling, Kate’s fists clenched tightly. 

Joshua called as soon as he saw the news about the chaos at Summit & Vale Solicitors. 

“Allie, I just saw on TV there was trouble at your firm and someone got stabbed. Are you alright? Where are you? I’ll come to you.” 

Balancing a bag of meds while on the phone, Allison replied, “I’m okay. I’m actually at the hospital where you’re staying. Heading to your room now.” 

Joshua’s voice was full of urgency, “Is it serious?” 

Allison answered calmly, “It’s not too bad, just a cut on my arm. It’ll heal in a few days.” 

She took the elevator up to Joshua’s floor and walked into his room, meds in hand. 

Joshua’s eyes filled with concern as he saw the bandage on her arm. “That’s quite a cut,” he said, worry deepening in his eyes. 

Allison caught his look. 

He was so concerned even though he couldn’t see the wound through the bandage. How would he have reacted if he’d seen the blood–soaked sleeve before the doctor cut it off? 

“You need a bodyguard,” Joshua insisted gently. “Being a lawyer is risky, and I can’t rest easy if you aren’t well protected. Don’t say no, Allie. I don’t want this happening again.” 

Allison pressed her lips together and nodded. 

Joshua took her hand, speaking softly, “I’ll find two skilled bodyguards to keep you safe.”
